Description
I draw it to be a part of 'History of Robin' in my own blog.I'm a huge fan of Batman series, especially Dick Grayson part.
I hope it can help you to explain to your friend who want to know who is Robin.
Some of picture is not from a main story like Tim as Joker that from Batman Beyond.
Just enjoy and love Robins!

I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong, please) that there were only two Robin's originally - Dick Grayson and Tim Drake - and the rest of the helpers were just made after the original had finished, probably by some people who'd bought the rights. Am I right?

There were actually 6 Robins. Dick Grayson came first(went on his own as Nightwing), then Jason (who died and came back to life, turned into an anti-hero), Tim Drake (Eventually became Red Robin), Stephanie Brown (From Spoiler to Robin to Batgirl), Carrie Kelly (Robin to Catgirl), and Damian Wayne (current Robin).
Nobody bought rights to the name really. DC and its the characters creators have rights (as far as I know.) In several animated series though, Dick and Tim are the Robins that are primarily used.

Heh, he WAS killed in the late 80's... but a time warp/shift... brought him back again. (he literally crawled from his grave, zombie style) that bad-ass kid...

I know that he crawled back from the dead (and the Hush-part is in the Pocket books, right? at least it's also in the pocket books)...
But wasn't it the Riddler who had planned it all and made Clayface act as a matured Jason Todd (without knowing that the robin he was playing was Jason Todd) which Batman found out and then kicked Clayface's butt?
In that story he uses something Batman believes that Jason Todd was brought back to life, using something that Ra's Al Ghul invented (something like the Lazarus pits, but not quite as far as I remember), but in reality the Riddler has just removed Jason's dead body completely.
The Batman universe is so complex! Could you tell me which version this is?

Haha, actually it wasn't ultimately the Riddler either. It was a guy who used to be Bruce's friend that you meet throughout the book who's pulling ALL the strings- but yes, in the Hush book it is 'Clayface'... but I'm pretty sure that Jason was actually part of it. Jason was dressed as Hush too, but he decided it wasn't time for Bruce to find out he was alive- He swapped places with Clayface.
Version? I think it ties into the 'mainstream'-comics (?). The current Batman and Robin with Damian and Richard-- Tim as Red Robin-- Jason is still part of everything as the Red Hood. ^_^ haha

I recently bought a book with the dailies (newspapers) of 1945-46, this shit is funny!
Especially one chapter where Batman and Robin have to go to a costume ball and every gent has to bring a girl. Bruce mocks Dick and actually force him to dress up as Marie Antoinette.. Not something that he enjoys... the facial expressions are priceless, really!

Well, it WAS a 90's comic. Dad hasn't gotten any of the newest ones (aka. after the start of the millinium) He has when Jason dies, 'Death in the Family', when Barbara get's shot, 'The Killing Joke'... and For his b-day this last April, I got him the Hush book. XD So that would be the most recent comic he has. Haha.

I found 'the Killing Joke' rather good! If it's the one I think... There can't be many Batman stories where Barbara gets shot, so I'd say it's the one. Also great to see the story of the Joker revealed... Kinda sad I'd say.
But they talk about the red helmet in that one, don't they? from back before the Joker became the Joker. What is that about then, if Jason Todd, after death, is the Red Helmet. The Joker killed Jason Todd after all....
Richard also has to dance with a suspect and is almost kissed by him. The universe surrounding Gotham City was a lot brighter back in the days... Especially in the '66 movie. A quiet little harbour town. Gosh, that's a funny movie!

The entire runaround with the bomb was just........... damn! and all the HOLY SOMETHINSOMETHING BATMAN!... back in the old days the movie must've been all serious and stuff... now it's just cult!

Funny thing is, in the comics they still stick with it, that's how Dick used to talk. 'Nightwing's' first encounter with Gordon went something like this. The Commish wasn't sure it was actually -him-. XD
Gordon: Say something only THE KID would know.
Nightwing: *thinking as he speaks* My former associate had a thing for bats...? You took up a pipe to quit smoking cigarettes?....Wait, how's about- *smiles wide* Holy mistaken identity!
The Commish only lowered his gun when Nightwing said the 'holy' line. XD

I also thought it was weird how neither the later movies nor the tv-shows stuck with the catch-phrase stuff.... It annoyed me, since they used it so much in that movie, and you just don't grow out of a catchphrase (or at least something you say so much) that easy.
Glad they kept using it in the comics!

I love Dick Grayson! Just his past and backstory and how he and Bruce were so alike yet so different. Dick was a happy go lucky circus "gypsy" who's parents died in a freak accident and Bruce was a dark lonely orphaned billionaire. Yet they are both perfectionists, have that mysterious aura about them and they both can be responsible leaders. Hell Dick led the Teen Titans! Hooray for Dicky!!!
