Corn Cake is the son of unlikely lovers, Tempest Shadow and Songbird Serenade.

He earned his name from an odd little species of bird known as Corn crake , which sing at night.

Tempest Shadow joined Songbird Serenade in her tours around Equestria as the pyrotechnic specialist- bringing wonderful displays of lights and fireworks to the night skies of Serenade's shows. While Songbird and Tempest were distant with one another in the start, they eventually began to grow more friendly toward one another (mostly thanks to Songbird) and eventually enlisted in a series of nights that could be considered One-Night stands. Their relationship was founded almost entirely on pleasure and intimacy, instead of 'love'- though as they spent more time together feelings did arise. Enough so that they dared to call themselves dating, and then later did get married.

In what little time their marriage lasted, and thanks to Magic, they were able to have a son- named Corn Cake. Both Tempest and Songbirn love Corn Cake with every ounce of their beings, they would die for him and have a bad habit of doting on his every beck and call- a very, very bad habit more seen in Tempest instead of Songbird. All first thoughts would have pegged Songbird as the one to dote on Corn Cake more often, but Tempest is the one who has almost no control over herself- she does whatever her little Crakey wants and he knows he can convince her of literally anything. Songbird became the one who had to discipline him most of the time- and despite the doting of his parents, Corn Cake is one of the most well-mannered ponies you will likely ever meet.

Corn Cake is always one of the calmest ponies you're likely to come across, he's a very flowy soul and doesn't seem to have an ounce of anger in him. He's friendly with everyone, and kind- and some people seem him as sort of a hippie of all things. He's a couch-potato and loves spending hours just sitting in a comfy place, listening to music and doing literally nothing else. He's very down to earth and doesn't get hung up on appearance nor dressing up, he speaks little but is the nice conservationist when he does engage with other people.

As he reached his teenage years, both his Mom's decided to go their serperate ways- and he spent a lot of time flitting between their company. They both love him immensely, and whenever Songbird and Tempest meet up again they are always very kind to one another- their opposing personalities clashed too much to live with one another all the time. The separation was very amicable, and Corn Cake spends alot of time with both his mom's- sometimes acting as messenger between the two and handing off little gifts and words.

Corn Cake can sing, like Momma "Birdy"- but he does so rarely and mostly humms instead of singing the actual words. He is also a capable fighter- courtesy of Momma "Tempy", who was very reluctant to share her militaristic life with her squishy, cute little boy- but she can't say no to him, so in his brief rebellious years- he learned to fight and he is scarily good at it. Since falling into his easygoing, hippie lifestyle- he wouldn't dare lift a hoof to cause harm or start conflict- but he will kick tail if he get's dragged into something.

In his freetime away from his Mom's, he hooks up with traveling bands and folk festival's enjoying all life has to offer. He's very fluid with his interests in other people, and has flirted and had nights with all sort of people- ponies and griffons, changelings (even a young dragon once) of all genders and sexuality.

Much like Tempest, he never earned a Cutie Mark- though he is young and could get one eventually- Corn Cake himself doesn't see it happening. Cause why waste time trying to find his "Talent" when there so many other things he could do in the meantime?
