"Do you ever miss your old life, Mercy?"

A life in the Independent Kingdom of Unilatia. A Kingdom governed by a king and his queen, a committee of trusted officials, of tight-knit groups of professions, among a race of Unicorns who proclaim to be pure-bred. Where each and every one of us possess a higher level of Magical Power than most others could ever dream of, a peaceful kingdom..... We had hardly any need for warriors, soldiers- of course we had some, those of us that kept order and kept us safe from any harm, but never enough to launch a war, we don't believe in fighting. We are very happy up in our corner of Equestria, a tall mountain and all things around it, and on it. We farm, we live, we thrive, we love.

But Unilatia doesn't really like those ponies outside our kingdom, the Earth Ponies, Pegasi, other- as we dubbed it- 'Lesser' Unicorns. We stay away from all of them, even the griffons and the yaks, and they all stay away from us- Celestia, and the officials of GriffonStone and Yakyakistan have agreed not to cross into our borders, its a peaceful agreement, and it works.

Well, it works unless you're me I suppose.

I loved my life in Unilatia, I was happy there, I had friends, I was even a very important member of the Kingdom- I was the apprentice of the Kingdom's Head Healer, the very Unicorn who was a personal 'doctor' if you will, to the King and his Queen. (You know, Healers, Unicorns whose main focus is on Healing Spells, fixing broken bones, we are very good at our jobs). I was very good at my job, I was the best, just under my Mentor, maybe even better than her if she had let me push myself to the limit. For my Skills, most everypony liked me, I was respected, the King and Queen even adopted me as their daughter- my real parents had disappeared when I was younger.

But there was something about that distant green shine, the figure of towns and the looming figure of the cliff with the Capital City of Equestria lodged on to it- Canterlot. That distant place, so far away from Unilatia.... I was drawn to it. I wanted to be there, I wanted to see new things, meet new ponies, I'd never actually seen an Earth Pony, Pegasus or even another non-Unilatian Unicorn before.

Maybe I was bored, always running back and forth between patients, the same injuries, same ailments, same faces, same food, same cobblestone streets, same everything.

I needed something different, a new adventure, new.. everything. So, I left.

Now see, leaving Unilatia is like exiling yourself- once you leave, you can't come back, they wont let you back in- that's the law, its been that way for centuries and nopony has had the mind to change it. I don't think they'll ever change it, no matter how peaceful Unilatia proclaims to be, its still strict. And nopony, not even my adoptive Parents the King and the Queen, would change the law for one little Healer who just left them, I hadn't even said goodbye- because I knew they would have tried to stop me.

I send a letter every now and then, I don't know if they get through or not- I haven't received any in return...

Do I miss it? No, not really. Sure, i miss my friends, my family, my home....... Unilatia was my home, but I found another one. I found new friends, a new family, and Equestria and everypony in it are so kind, so welcoming.... I love it here in Equestria, I'm glad I left, I've seen so many new things nopony back in Unilatia could dream of. Most ponies don't even mind that I'm a 'foreigner', I think I fit in pretty well- despite my obvious, unique appearance with every other pony here.

I believe I made the right Decision. Equestria, PonyVille- its my home.

And here we have a 'Memory Days' Part for our dear Mercy! I needed to draw her again, I haven't drawn her hardly enough, and 'Memory Days' was perfect for adding in a bit more background, and getting to try her design out a bit more! ^^
