Description Dunno why the flowes seem like powdered with gold powder. But it seems nice, doesn´t it.

Dedicated to who seems to like flowers. I hope that you´ll like this one too.

This is a lovely subject, interesting and well framed.

Unfortunately, I think the impact of the shot is greatly reduced by the fact that it's entirely over-exposed; which washed out too many of the textural details in the petals and dulled the colors. This is a common problem with shooting in full sunlight...living in Florida, it's something I've had to contend with almost every time I shoot.

To correct / avoid this, when shooting in the bright sun of Florida (and of Summer especially in more Northern / far South Southern hemisphere locations), I have found that I get much richer colors and much finer details if I close down the aperture way down (us an f-stop of somewhere between 9 and 14, typically) and shoot with a shutter speed down somewhere around 1/160 to 1/250.

Another way to fix this on macro / close-up shots like this, is to make sure the subject is completely covered by shadow. Because I'm a fat, middle-aged guy, for me that means just moving my massive bulk into place as a sun block. You may find you need some additional "portable shade" like an umbrella, a book or something else to block enough sun.

Anyway, I hope this helps. In general, I love your work, but I wouldn't rate this image as one of your better ones.

Sorry, but this was shot at late evening indoors and overexposure was caused by flash, which was fully intended. Without overexposure, golden glitter on petals isn´t visible. Considering that I wanted to create this effect, I used flash from very close distance.

But thank you for advices anyways.

No worries...and no hard feelings, I hope.  I'm always a little hesitant to critique anyone else's work for fear of insulting them.

Don´t worry about that, I don´t mind critiques.

Cool.

Me, neither. I've learned a lot from other folks critiquing my work (and some were pretty harsh, too! )

Greetings from the Project Comment tagline (finally!)   My tag was "together" so I chose this shot that combines red with gold.

The reason I chose this image instead of the other shot of these flowers (Fire fairy) is that I think this is the better shot.  It works better compositionally, with the blooms arranged down an upper-right to lower-left diagonal, and the depth of field is nicer in this piece.  (I don't think you have a massive amount of aperture control with the DMC-FX8, I'm not sure to what extent you were able to fiddle around with f-stop values and so on, but it looks good anyway!)

The colours are indeed beautiful, and the title is well-chosen.  The light catching on the petals is very pretty and gives a magical effect.

I think that the image may be very slightly over-exposed, but again, I don't know that you can do much about that with this type of camera.  You did a nice job; this looks very attractive!

Your tag is: feathers.

Thank you very much for your thoughtfull comment.

I´m glad that you like composition and colours of this peace, my camera is really non professional as taking photos is only my hobby, so I´m glad that you like result anyway.

Overexposure is intention in this photo, because without it, flowers would be deep red, with no golden. Dunno why, I´m not expert on flowers, but when overexposed, geranium gets this beautiful golden shine.

Once again, thanks for comment. Feedback means a lot to me.
