Description
The Final Version (the 3rd one) of the Hk XM8, just before it was cancelled.I like it as much as the Early Concept, and much than the 2nd Generation one - even if this latter resembles much more the Final Version, while the Early Concept looked like an improved G36... -.

For the In-Game Weapon, of course not...
It uses 40-Round Magazines while retaining the same Accuracy and RoF of the M4A1!
I often carry that along with an RPG or another Launcher!
The Alternative being the M249 used by the UP Mercenaries and UN Soldiers!
For the Real Weapon, well, there are some Points to consider:
- the XM8, as the Name implies, is an Xperimental Weapon;
- it is essentially a G36 with only few Modifications and a Futuristic Look;
- it was cancelled more than 5 years ago, cause of some Issues related to the Melting of its Plastic Components and the Fact that it would cost more than a Regular M4A1, while being also Heavier and with a lower Rate of Fire!
For sure, it is much more Reliable of the M4 (and it was proved with that 60,000 Round Dust Test, [link] , in which it overpassed all the other Rifles); but unfortunately, it wasn't enough and the Competition was won by the SCAR...
Now, there is also the Army "Individual Carbine Competition", which is at its Phase II with the Colt Enhanced M4 (a Colt APC), the Remington ACR 2.0, the Herstal Advanced Carbine, the ADCOR BEAR, the H&K HK416 and the Beretta ARX-160...

I really Wish the M8 was Mass Produced, It More then Likely would be More Combat Effective then the M16/M4 Service Rifle/Carbine.
I don't have Anything against the M16/M4, I actually Like Them, I just don't Like how Prone to Jamming They are.

Honestly, I would have agreed with you some years ago...
Aesthetically, the XM8 is for sure one of my Favourite Weapons!
And I also like very much its Early Version, which greatly resembles a G36!
The 2nd and the 3rd Gen were even available in Different Variants (Assault Rifle, Carbine, CQB Rifle, Sharpshooter, LMG), with the Possibility to attach Rail Pieces on the PCAP Holes and to add a Top Rail (XM8R)...
But now, there are Many, Improved and More Convenient Alternatives under almost every Aspect...
And, after the end of the Phase III - which begins on May 2013, one year after the Start of the Phase II - of the "Individual Carbine Competition", then we will have the New Carbine, which will side the M4A1 that the Army is now buying to replace the 3 Burst M4...
