Added 10/19/08Well, this is nice. I found a couple of pictures ZI never bothered to upload.
I'll space 'em out, so you all don't get bored or something.
This one is my redesign of Firelion, one of the unused monster designs for Godzilla Unleashed. Not as happy with it as I was with the Visitor, but eh.
DinoHunter2's design is alot better, I think.

In this case, I must recommend two somewhat inconvenient tweaks for FL here: (a) removing those golden bristles directly below the lower jaw so the brown ventral strip continues up to his chin; and (b) extending/curving those tail-barbs a fraction. Otherwise, I'm quite impressed by those jade scales & the contrast they form with that golden idol-mug.
As far as comparisons with Seesar go...heck, mammalian kaiju are so under-represented compared to the saurians (even ones built along Godzilla's lines) that two quasi-feline/mystic-canine beasts hardly represent a rut.

That sounds like it would look neat, but I was going for a mask like look for his head. The tail barbs, though, could stand to be a bit longer.
I guess that's true. I think it was just that they looked so similar, with the scales and whatnot, that people were just thinking that the designers were being lazy, or something.

Oooh, this is very cool! You might like mine better, but I dunno. I think yours captures the character of the monster a lot better- it's got a much stronger mythological feel to it, IMO. The ornate, statue-like head really reminds me of Chinese shisas and fu dogs, it looks great! The gold claws match it nicely, too. I also like how you extended the gold faceplate down to cover the whole head and neck, so that he's got a sort of plated mane. That's awesome!

The brass claws made more sense than the red ones on the original, and extending the mane like that got rid of the odd fire wreath, that also made no sense.
I actually imagined him as a statue as I drew this. His head is like a brazer now, if you can see what I mean.
So, say you want to awaken him-so you go to the hidden temple or whatever, and light him up with some special plant or something.
....I thought about this way to much. XD

Ahaha, not at all! That's a cool idea, it gives the fire on him more importance- he's not just a randomly flaming guardian anymore, the fire is like his life essence, it's what animates him. I think that gives him more depth as a character, which he definitely needs since he was just concept art to begin with. XD
