Description Well you saw the folder doodles I hope: [link]

On the first day of the course I doodles the lying down dragon on the right side and decided it was so good I'd bring in my art pad the following day and make a copy. I spent all bar 2 of the lunch breaks (half an hour each) during the 2 week course on drawing and inking the dragon.

Got a lot of attention from the people who run the course over the two weeks

This is also for 's Dragon contest.

This course you were on was it run by a company called A4e by any chance?

Don't know who ran it, was part of the job centre effort to get people back to work who have been on benefit for more than 6 months but they did out source to some other company to do the actual course.

Sounds about the same thing I did, a lot of pointless boring rubbish. I'm currently on a 13 week course (although fortunately I'm only in 1 day as I'm at Oxfam the rest of the time) which is a good job as its pretty much the same doing nothing all day. I too doodled dragons on my folder, although yours are much better then mine

Yeah I started that one too doing my placement at Citizen's Advice Bureau. Got my job at Bright Grey from the job hunting and CV that I got on the 13 week course.

I like the texture the scales create as well as the overall detail. However, I have to say that the dragon itself seems really rigid and static. Your original drawing seemed looser and flowed better. By refining it to this point the dragon seems to have lost that fluidity and looks unnatural. However, other than that I really do like the dragon overall. I especially like the feet.

Thank you!

I can see what you mean I think, the dragon on the folder looks younger and cuter. Must draw that unifrog.

I can see why it would take so long with the scales Yours are so perfectly proportionate. Do you draw them individually? Very cool though I like your style!

Thank you, yep I draw them all by hand one by one.

I understand that would take a while I did that on my one piece called "Chained". It does take a long time that way.

The details are in all the right places. I see lots of people draw scales in the wrong direction or the size is off. Yours are fantastic. I like the pink and black combo too.

I've always enjoyed this kind of dragon body type. x3 Nice job on the scales, they can be a pain. xD

Scellanis In reply to Tala-Twilight [2007-05-03 08:57:29 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! The scales are ok in general, just the ones round the back leg that I don't like, normally I cover the back leg with the wing.

Thanks! Not really, 2 week course, half an hour for lunch each day and I missed two of the lunch breaks so a total of 6 hours to do the full ink and then I coloured it at home.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chiknsdeviantart In reply to Scellanis [2007-05-02 23:12:50 +0000 UTC]

i spend about 4-5 minutes for my sketches, 2hours to ink, 3 in photoshop. well usually.
