I have not written one of these before but this image strikes me so hard that I feel I must (and I cannot write an ordinary comment).
So i am astonished. At first it seems like an optimistic image. New life, new leaves, new colours are spreading over an older, quieter background.
Sharp branches are probing their way forwards into the older growth.
And suddenly I feel a strange reversal, and then a very normal feeling: this is life, new life constantly replacing old.
And if old does not like new - tough!
Life is brutal, it will create space and air and food for itself at the expense of weaker life.
Here, however, the weaker life is also more beautiful, it is so soft and dense and accommodating.
I am feeling I am losing hope now - I am the old brown grass, those new sharp twigs and acid-green leaves will soon commandeer my space, my supplies of oxygen and water. I am finished, redundant.
