I finally made an animated ID, and it's my first time to make use of the pen tool on Photoshop CS2! Look at all the clean linework, took me hours to render too!
I think I did kind of a sucky job on Gaara a little, cuz he looks like a little kid here, doncha think? It's the best I could do with the pen tool, but I hope it looks okay. He was meant to look either surprised or shocked at the decoration of lights I was messing with to make his gourd look festive. But hey, tis the season to celebrate!

I learned from :icondisney-bubble: 's drawing on Photoshop tutorial (see this [link] )
Here are the steps I used:
~followed the linework instructions from Disney-bubble's step-by-step tutorial
(for coloring)
~had several layers out (one layer was for hair, dress, gourd, holly, etc.)
~set the layer mode on multiply (to see how I'm coloring over the layers, and erase any paint that was outside the linework).
~For any special effects (like the sand on the gourd or the glass on the lights), go to the layer you were working on (like the "gourd" or "lights" layer), go to filter and select Texture>film grain or Artists>Glass on those layers. That should do the trick).
You didn't really fall outta touch if you were in school a lot, but you know, I understand, and I'm more than willing to help a sister Gaarian with her Photoshop skills ^o^!

I learned to do the linework perfectly from Photoshop tutorial [link] The coloring I did was just simply messing around with the millions of layers and airbrushing. It was so totally arbitrarel, I still can't believe it came out so well.

I used a rudamentary animation program called Adobe ImageReady CS2, and it was fairly easy: I just duplicated the images that hasn't had it's lights lit up yet, then I light two different colored lights (one frame has its blue and pink lights glowing, and the other has its green and red ones lit up) and then put those two frames in ImageReady and had them blinking lights glw every .5 seconds. ^^ I think I should get into After Effects, which BTW, I wanted to inquire to you about. Is that program easy? Fun?

um....the program is supposidly easy compared to other programs but you have to learn all this stuff, i was taught the basics but i would LOVE to get the program for myself and learn alot more...if you like to learn ^__- then it could be easy for you

Ah Marie, thank you! I always wanted to go for the clean effect and it came out pretty nice. I'm just praying that Gaara didn't come out with no proportion (he looked a lot better in the sketch, believe me). I'm glad you dig it!
