When CBS announced a few years ago that they would reissue the original Star Trek series with newly created digital effects, they accompanied the announcement with two renders of the Enterprise.  When I saw the two renders, it struck me that they looked computer generated.  I wanted them to do something that looked more like they simply had cleaned up the original effects.  That was always my goal with my hobby.  I've been working on this sort of thing for years now.

Anyway, here is my version of one of the two renders with the Earth below and what I hope is a model that looks less CGI than what CBS used.  I made parts of this in TrueSpace and imported them, then massively changed or remade entire sections of the model and retextured her and rendered her in Blender 2.70 with Cycles.  A terrific render engine!
