Description In response to several requests for a simple plush tutorial for beginners, here it is! This tutorial is suitable for someone who has never made a plush before! This tutorial contains the basic techniques you need to make plushies. In this tutorial you will learn how to:
Make your own pattern
Cut out fabric and pin
Sew inside out, so the seams are on the inside
Stuff and finish a plush.

If you do not own a sewing machine, you can still sew this by hand easily enough! For instructions on hand sewing, please see this tutorial -->

This will not take long for someone with a sewing machine (maybe an hour). For someone experienced at plush making, this will probably take only 20 minutes.

Good luck! Please feel free to ask for help if you need to, and make sure you show me your end result!!

I made two dittos! They were very fun to make! I doubt I would have been able to make them half as well if not for your fantastic tutorial, so thank you!

Here is one of the two dittos I made: Ditto Plushie It was a gift for my sister's birthday. ^^

What sewing machine do you use? I just bought a singer, but it sews waaay too fast to sew tiny things like plushies. Thank you!

scilk In reply to PedroThePie [2015-01-03 04:00:06 +0000 UTC]

heyo!
I have 3 machines- a Bernina, an Elna and a Singer. But see most machines go slower when you put less pressure on the pedal! Have you tried using a lighter touch on the pedal?

If it's just a fast machine, you will eventually become used to it! In my expereince the cheaper machines are slower. So my $150 Elna is fairly slow. might be a good place to start. But for very tiny things I often choose to sew by hand.

Ah, my pedal doesn't even register light pressure, it only goes two speed unu
But wow! 3 machines! I've come to love sewing by hand, but sometimes I just wanna see the final product already! oxo
Thank you~!

I used this tutorial to make my first plushie(not a ditto, sadly, but guess whats next on my list?).  However is there anyway to make your pattern last longer?
