This was my dad's Fathers Day gift as a print. He is my hero, and yes that is cheesy.Hope you likes!

While I'm usually a fan of changing Superman's outfit because the old suit is cheesy, I generally prefer it if Superman himself is being presented as a cheesy guy. Because that's not necessarily a bad thing, and even in a serious piece it can work IF the character himself is cheesy. That's part of him. It's just when you try to present him as NOT being cheesy that this old outfit doesn't work.
That said, this works quite well.

This makes me think about "Superman Returns", one of the finer superhero films in quite a while (with the exception of the excellent "Dark Knight"). The lighting, pose, and color give this a really majestic feel.
I really appreciate the focus on the background as well to balance the focus on the Man of Steel himself. That is something that I need to start doing myself.

I have struggled in the past with backgrounds and it is just something you have to commit to, and spend an equal amount of love at doing. Just takes practice.
