Description This flume runs all along I-80 from at least Donner to Verdi, California.  I was born just miles away from it and I cannot find out all the facts on its history.  But, what I do know is she was originally put in during the Comstock to float lumber down the mountain. Now she is just a water source that feeds into the Truckee.
Steph stephgabler.deviantart.com/  and her family came over the hill on Sunday and we had a blast.

Good study in geometry and textures, Sheri. Interesting subject as well - a logging flume. We have a lot of forestry work around the cottage, but so far as I know flumes were never used. Nowadays, there are these enormous trucks that seem to be able to go anywhere that transport the timber.

She went in during the 1850s at her start and amazingly with less than expected maintenance, she is still working now.  I am fascinated by it.

Indeed! Sometimes older engineering was better than anticipated.
