Adan was born in Glacier Falls City, and so has always been used to the cold. One day, when he was about 5 years old, he was playing by the town's small pool and accidentally fell in. It was quite a while before Adan was finally pulled out of the water, but the freezing waters had a lasting affect on Adan. From then on he became very calm and focused, and also not as bothered by the cold; sometimes not even having a winter jacket on. Then several more years later, when talking a walk on Route 60, he came across a Cubchoo that was being bullied by some kids. He saved the Pokemon, and in turn it became his friend. Adan helped train it to become stronger, so that it wouldn't get pushed around any more; and eventually Adan just took the Pokemon as his own. Training with the Cubchoo he felt like he might be good as a trainer, so he decided to have an Ice Type team and trained them to be strong, and because of this he eventually was able to get a Gym in his home City.
