This explains alot actually; Superman is basically allpowerful, expect for one single weakness, kryptonite. Celestia lost the battle againts Chrysalis, who ever so conveniently used green magic. Gee, I wonder where her beams got its color! This then would explain how Chrysalis could possibly defeat Celestia, but then later get her flank handed by lesser ponies!

I'd believe that except it's not Chrysalis' green magic that defeated Princess Celestia. It was the combined force of Chrysalis' magic and Shining Armor's love. But maybe there will be a material that affects Princess Celestia much the same way that kryptonite affects Superman.
