My art director Phil asked for this last variant, and it turned out to be my favorite. However the marketing team had a very specific idea for how the final image was to be used, and this called for the monster and hunter characters to be facing off on the same image plane.Related content

Thanks a lot polhudo, that makes me happy to hear. I was taking some notes from this older artist...I think his name was...Mario Larrinaga. He was a concept artist back before they were called concept artists. He did a bunch of development art for the classic King Kong film. My buddy TJ Frame (Senior Concept artist here at TRS) and I have been geeking out about the guy's work for the last few years. He did a lot of this 'layering image space' stuff. Foreground, midground, background, etc.

poor monster! what a bunch of cowards those 'hunters' - killing it from afar with high-tech military guns & assorted crap. ... there's a new war lurking/glooming waged by USA against the rest of the world (aka 'monsters'
...
and all those bizarre anime/comic/whatever stunts designed by willing brainwashers for nowaday teenies to boost morale... whilst in reality american society is so tired and weary that not even the perspective to gain self-esteem as 'monster-hunter' (in iraq or ucraine) may lead to better recruitment figures !
american teenies are simply way too fat for that !

just read about the charleston massacre... don't you ever in your weird fantasy monster-world raise the timid question to yourself - that exactly western (i.e. us-american) mass/popular culture (with all its lovely mass/serial killer heroes & monsters) is one of the main ideological training/breeding ground for trigger happy amok killers like this one?
