I will have to take a rain check...things are unpredictable around here these days with my family. My dad is better, but it is hard, being 88 and getting used to being alone. I can't plan out time the way I used to.

understand perfectly... lots of irons in the fire on this side of the screen as well...we can collaborate later if you like through our mutual contact -Lizole- you're family obligations are a priority right now...a new collaboration would only be a distraction...

thank you...this is another one that came together organically
from older elements collected
over time but then coalesced in a matter of minutes once they were brought together... i like things that happen that way.

still think you could do a few of these yourself...if you really felt like it... i know you have the talent to draw and your artistic ideas are great (dua) ... by doing this (collaboration via artful dodgers) you would have contact with many other artists and expand your artistic strengths into new areas

get a deck of cheap cards and exeperiment...( i glue two cards together because i like the additional thickness it gives after it's finished) the ideas is not to actually finish a card you send to someone else but just add a few things to it (which could be anything form using any form of medium) once your happy with your results contact Lizole, tell her you would like to collaborate and ask for her address...she'll send you a few cards that she as worked on and after that the rest is easy...

Hey, thanks for the llama! I still have no idea where to get/give these... I've been on DA for a while but I'm still struggling my way around most of the time :S

you're welcome *grin* to give a llama, you have to be at someones page... (can't give yourself a llama...that would be cheating) the menu bar has a drop down list of options (found on the right) one of these are give a llama *it's free*, once you click on this option it will ask for your password since online llama smuggling is taken seriously here on DA and all efforts are taken to prevent someone form stealing llamas or aquiring llamas by other nafarious and equally snraky means. After you have typed your pass word it will say something like "you have just given (whoever) a llama...you will then see button that says "done" (because you would be at this time (llama wise) hope this helps...

*grin* i mean it...i've found truly amazing artist on this site who are very generous with their advice and incouragement to others...kinda hard to find that working in fast food...art is not on the menu... will be posting a few new cards within the hour that were collaborations with Lizole, one you've seen before -calimari 1.0- which she greatly inhanced with her unique artistic flourish...the others were cards were projects i had started with the intention of sending them off...they now look amazing... hope you have been able to do some more things to the cards i sent you (still having problems finding them on your site, unless you posted them directly to the artful dodgers gallery (just thought of that one) a link to them would be helpful if you have time (no rush) will send you more cards when i find the supplies i need to work with...

kinda hard to discribe, but it was something i tried one evening that worked. the card is soaked in water (just enough to keep it wet) or weak dyes and then microwaved for ten to fifteen seconds at a time, too much time will make the card too brittle to work with and could ignite the card (which would be bad) destressing the card with rough sandpaper or crumpling the card will allow the dyes to darken those areas more. This technique is largely hit or miss
right now ...it works sometimes then fails at other times...i just like to experiment.

look for oversized cards at yard sales, (have your friends look for you as well) i think the ones i've used so far have been coated in some way which have worked the best and has allowed for the lovely scorched edges that i'm rather fond of. You can use really cheap cards, like the ones found at discount stores but they will act like cheap cards and fall apart or be very difficult to work with using some of the the techniques i have previously discribed... i have to glue two or more cards together (back to back) to really be happy with them, but the advantage to using them is they are so cheap thay you can try a lot of things quickly without spending a lot of money finding out what doesn't work...
