♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ Smaaaaugg the magicc dragggooonnnn ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬So I read "The Hobbit" the wonderful book that it is, and have been avoiding all media related to the movie so I could paint a clear untainted image of what i was imagining of Smaug while reading. Usually when I watch a movie, my imagination is replaced by the movie's version, and hence I can't remember what I used to envision for Harry Potter.
He's described in the book as having a "diamond waistcoat" from laying on his treasure for so long, Not many of the original illustrations depict that though..

Beautiful I don't know how I would have possibly tackled the "diamond waistcoat", the whole piece comes together so wonderfully

Many dragons are said to lay on their hoards, and over time end up with gems covering their usually softer, vulnerable bellies. I have been drawing a lot of dragons these last couple of days, mostly because I have been re-reading the wonderful Dragonology books.
I also battled Alduin in Skyrim today hurrrrr. Oh Smaugy, I cannot wait to see him in the movie. I am hoping they don't ruin him like the Eragon movie ruined Saphira, she didn't look too bad, but she was a bit lame.
