“So wait,” Jane said, as she and HeroWingmon made their way through the stands. “Explain this to me: why did you need to Digivolve?”
Her partner scrunched up his blue-skinned face and rolled his dark eyes. “So my wings don’t block the view for others.”
“But you gained a foot in height!”
Wings shrugged and sidestepped a Digimon with an armload of snacks. Jane looked at him thoughtfully, raising an eyebrow. “You could have devolved. Kindmon wouldn’t have blocked anyone’s line-of-sight.”
“Kindmon’s line-of-sight would have been blocked!” Wings spat out. His expression was one of put-out distaste. Clearly he had more against being a Rookie than just being short. Jane gave him a concerned look. He sighed. “I don’t hate being Kindmon, it’s actually pretty fun. It’s just the thought of it.... It’s just... embarrassing. Let’s chalk it up to childhood issues and leave it at that.”
“Then why-? Oh, I get it,” she said slyly. “You’re showing off. You didn’t make it to the Mega round, but you want everyone to know you have a Mega form. Am I right?”
Wings stared at her impassively for a few heartbeats, then broke eye contact and turned to the arena. “The first match is starting,” he noted, changing the subject.

Omigosh, this took 100 years longer than it was supposed to. Cameo appearances (in no particular order (I hope I got you all!)) by
, the fearless leaders of the DWC, some of my own fan-Digis, and a drum.

For someone so shy, Jane certainly is loud...
