Description
Maple Lake is a manmade lake in Southwest Michigan covering 172 acres. It was created in 1907 when the village of Paw Paw dammed up the Paw Paw River with a hydroelectric dam. I took this series of photos on 11-30-21 on the way to my mother's house and stitched them together in photoshop. If you look through the gap in the trees, you can see the old dam. Maple Lake is a good fishing lake, especially for walleye and also is home to a large population of swans. In the last few years however, the south end has become quite shallow due to silt from the Paw Paw River. I was born in a hospital that used to overlook this lake.
