Okay, so what the heck is this..Pretty much what it looks like, actually.
NGO workers, medics etc all run a serious risk to their own health in danger zones where their help is needed most. The idea is a remote controlled vehicle that uses celphone signals to communicate with the remote vehicle. Camera, audio, a remote manipulator hand, navigation controls etc would be retrofitted to an existing small service vehicle like the ubiquitous Bobcat, a common sight in north america.
Logic being, instead of sending armed robots to fight, how about sending 'handed' robots to help?

Nice concept And I think this would be very helpful in places of high infection risk. But I think that all this remote controlling (and only one arm) would make it clumsy and if patient has some serious injuries, it is just not enough - human medics are still needed.

True enough kalaadrius- it certainly would not be articulate enough for surgery or dressing wounds or the like- especially with one arm..! But, it would allow a doctor to say, examine, give advice, possibly dispense medicines- maybe even in the native language of the patient, if say, the symptoms observed and described were recorded, and instructions could be emailed to translators who returned a verbal prognosis.
Its hardly ideal, by any means- but they often can't get doctors into the field, nor translators for that matter, since there aren't enough or the risk is too great.
I wasn't thinking so much of infectious zones, as I was of
conflict regions where a doctor would be in danger.
The dark area with the doors on the chassis was intended to be something the arm could reach inside to grab things with- in the sketch, its just dispensing a can of soda, but it might also be handing out antibiotics or the like...
Anyway, it might be better than nothing.

I guess you are right, they need all the help they can get.
