I am reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, and it has given me some ideas for a character.

So I have created Torgue, a character who only sees everything in its dead form. So trees, grass, flowers, etc. that are actually alive and blooming appear to him as gnarled, shriveled, bare, and lifeless. Animals are seen in the same way, with their fur scarce, skin sunken and leathery, and bones protruding from their places.

He doesn't see colors, smell smells, or taste anything. Since he can't taste, he rarely eats. He is of thoroughbred descent, skinny and long-legged. His eating habits leave his physical appearance emaciated and very greyhound-esque.

He isn't an especially peppy character but isn't completely depressed and downtrodden either. He's just a thoughtful, hallucinating individual who will eventually encounter Angier.

Took about two hours.
Adobe CS2 and a Wacom Intuos3 tablet.
