Description This painting was quite the challenge, but I'm pretty happy how it came out. :]
I don't think I've spent so many hours painting a single piece since college, somewhere close to ninety hours in the end.
It's about 11x17 inches and is mostly painted with acrylics.

It's the cover for FurtherConfusion's convention book next January, following their down under theme of "Southern Crossing."
I drew a lot of inspiration for it from my own experiences camping three weeks in the Outback with friends and family a few years ago. :]

From left to right, we've got Diego (dingo), Jack (red kangaroo), a quoll and feral goat up on the truck, a wombat, emu, Diego's mum, an echidna, a numbat in the foreground, a Tasmanian devil and another quoll.

Hey, sweet painting! I like all of the characters' designs and their expressions, and I also like all the little details you put in like "Victoria" on the car license plate and the Tasmanian devil's Aussie flag apron. Not to mention that the numbat is a really cute lil fella and a favourite animal from my childhood! You obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this picture, so great job!

Is that a half of the Nordguard logo I see on that trunk on the 4wheel drive? Also I love the Victoria licence plate.

This is truly amazing. Incredible! Love how you went to put all of the details in. It's just amazing. The whole camping thing is really cool, because I use to go camping alot with my dad, step mom and my step brother(s).

And another thing is that this piece reminds me of my friend, who is Australian.
Great job!

Baahahahah I love how they are all anthro and wearing clothes...

and then naked emu.

And judging by the way he's looking at Diego's mom, I think there may be a reason for that.

Absolutely fantastic artwork, though - I'm really blown away.

Looks like a good old Aussie BBQ. I admire an artist who can get the Australian culture and friendly feeling down so well through it's native wildlife.

Not only is the anatomy and expressions of the characters really impressive, but the fact that this is made with traditional media makes it much more special.

People used to think that photography would be the death of painting... I'm thinking tablets may have a better chance... but there will always be one special thing about physical media that intangible media cannot match-- each piece is unique. I think art made with traditional media will get a whole lot more special in the near future...

Those are my thoughts exactly! Traditional media is much more special, at least in my opinion.

Not to belittle digital art in the least though... there is great digital art... but my copy would be exactly the same as the original. No need for museums, no need to sell it... (except as a print, but that would be significantly less costly than a painting)
