The first serious piece that I've worked on in...ever. I'm kind of nervous submitting it, because I know that I hardcore suck at drawing : / I haven't really decided where else I'm going with it.

There's a story behind this picture, but I'm sure no one cares.

In case you DO care:

Basically, Damien (dark haired one) has just returned from the Afghanistan War after 5 years. He reunites with old friends and loved ones, but finds that the one friend he cares for the most is a total wreck. Mitch (the light haired one) has lost everything: His wife died in a horrible manner and he has lost custody of his daughter for an indefinite amount of time due to his mental instability. Every time he attempts to better himself, something happens to prevent his reunion with his daughter and he spirals further and further. When Damien finally gets in contact with him, Mitch is practically comatose due to the amount of pills and alcohol in his system. Damien believes that he can save Mitch and reunite him with his daughter.

Mitch, however, does not believe it is possible. Damien attempts to detox him and make him sober, but the way that he approaches the situation is very...rough. He's very harsh to Mitch (due to his anger at what he's become), and despite how hard Mitch tries to please Damien and put forth the effort to get better, Damien constantly threatens him and makes him feel like shit.

One night (about a month after all this started), Damien visits Mitch and finds him sprawled out on the kitchen floor, completely drunk and fucked up. He immediately yanks Mitch up by the collar and proceeds to yell and scream at him for being so selfish. It's then that Mitch breaks down and opens up to Damien about the truth of he wife's death and all darker shit that's happened since they've been separated.
