Description
As a project in Graphics 4, we're supposed to come up with a handbag design to promote an artist. I took it a step further and, instead of hunting down his illustrations and splicing them together, I attempted an illustration of my own in his style (mostly...some of my own flair still peeks through). The little hatter fella is my response to having to create a "logo" for him, taking the facial features of the white knight (which Tenniel created as an image of himself), borrowed the hatter's hat, and placed Tenniel's mark/signature in the price tag.

John Tenniel is Mad as a Hatter.
Suddenly, it all makes more sense now, you know.
Very good work! You capture the style quite nicely; the Cheshire Cat looks a little "not-Tenniel," but Alice and "Sir John Hatter" look much closer to the artist's original work.
Sincerely yours,
J.
P.S.: Fun fact: John Tenniel actually DIDN'T base the White Knight off himself. The tell-tale moustache, the reason this was believed, he didn't start growing until AFTER "Through the Looking-Glass" was published. (Or, at least, that's what Martin Gardner's "Annotated Alice" claims. )

Alice has changed my life so much. I'm so glad I was introduced to it and to Tenniel's work through it.
