and his touchstone was his self-published
album of twenty-second songs, twenty-two
strong. no one seemed to understand it and
questioned the point of it all, the why.

his answer was a jump off the side of
a building and the news reporters called
him a tragic hero misunderstood
and TV specials and songs and books
were created in little Jesse's memory

while the lot of them didn’t get all the fuss.
the ones that did might have been
pretending, but they became
cooler as the stead-fasters stayed the
uncool whackness, regulated and rendered
hopeless; the way they wagged their
heads towards them, oh! the shame! oh!
tragedies upon tragedies! you would have felt
sorry for these ones, you would have.
