~Fond of My Demons~

You see a coincidence and call it God,
I've seen the body of a boy become the body of a man,
But my life is full,
After what's been taken from me there's no more of myself left to give,

I want my bed to smell like your cologne,
Your touch carries such strength its presence stays,
New wounds over old scars,
Fingers ride along each one as though they were reading braille,

You put these bruises on me,
I gave you your lust for life when you couldn't care less,
You said that you loved me, why did you try to leave me if it wasn't a mistake?
Now nothing will be the same again,

How could you know more than me?
When I'm the one with something to go home to,
I can't understand how you could hide the only thing that matters,
Because it's not the only thing that matters,

I'd sooner lie to you before I'd lie to myself,
Show me yourself under your shirt and beneath your skin,
Show me that you mean every word,
I don't think I could live with myself if you didn't,

My God is the way the world changes with your smile,
The way it stops when you cry, and adjusts when you're in pain,
I worship the truth that I found in you,
The only truth who has not abandoned me.

I've laid my eyes upon you bare,
So many times before,
But never have I seen you like this,
And I don't want to go back.
