God, you look so beautiful when you laugh,
After all these years,
I still make myself pretty for when you come knocking on the door,

What left me devastated moved on long before I got the nerve to,
I think you should go but I wish you wouldn't,
Pining for the shiny shards of emotions that I collected from the bottom,

Things would have been different if we could have changed the world we were surrounded by,
If it feels too good to be true, then it's not,
Ardor and a warm body laid bare is nothing to lose our heads over,

Even if you're coming around just to take something,
You're needed here,
It's not guilt that wills the need to provide, but a testament to a feeling,

I thought you could have what you had and never need anything else, but I was wrong,
Wondering what you're seeing when we're like this,
It hurts a little bit but you don't have to stop, don't press on too hard,

That's how it started, resigned from the world with my head resting on your chest,
Could hear the breath enter your lungs and the beat of your heart,
The vibration of a sincere laugh and you were tangible and unharmed.
