It's just like when some clouds rolled in sometime last night,
When morning cast the walls with a gloomy gray glow,
The earth felt like I did when you weren't there and I couldn't help it,

Every time I fell, I knew it wouldn't work,
How could you hurt one to spare the other?
I wanted so much to start over again,

We took the pieces of what we broke,
Tried to build something else to make up for it,
We couldn't gather enough and it all fell apart in our hands,

I've forgotten when we promised things would be different,
Old habits were hard to kill when you finally wanted them gone,
I threw my body over you and took the blow,

When I'm gone you'll drink your pain by the bottle,
Escaping with inebriation,
Running away from us and everything else,

Sometime around noon I went looking for you,
They said you were sick and I remember how hard it was to go home,
I wanted to tell you how right you were,

The world is a cruel place, selfish and mean,
It's why I'll only feel right again once you let me take you home,
You looked for me everyday since then.
