of white light, phone-screen glow,
laughter steeped in end-of-week exhaustion.

tonight,
an implosion.

there is no gray area.

i cannot find clear enough words—
gray is too hazy a color
for newsprint—tonight’s headlines
are fireworks—you are not enough,
you are not enough.

you will always be black and white.
