Description
they both woke up at the same time of night i guess? this looks really rushed, but i wanted to post this here since my friend eccy wrote a quick fic for it~
"Scrooge’s eyes opened up slowly, taking in his surroundings and trying to grasp where he was. Of course he was bed, having been asleep and dreaming about money only seconds ago until he felt something move within the bed. But as his eyes opened and dilated to the lack of light, he noted that he was not the only one up. Beside him was Goldie, her arms behind her head, head sightly cocked to the side as she looked up at the ceiling. She must have been in deep thought because when Scrooge sat up she didn’t look to him. He smiled at her lovely face in deep thought, so relaxed and soft. He then gently put his fingers through her hair and caught her attention- her eyes looked up to him and her beak turned into a beautiful smile.
"Did I wake you, Scroogey?"
"No, of course not dear, we woke up together."
She giggled at this and moved one hand to fell over his own in her hair.
"We should get back to sleep"
"I don’t think I can now that I’m up."
"I can fix that" she smirked devilishly."

A year later...
"Remember when we had trouble falling asleep?" Scrooge chuckled wearily as he cradled little Aura in his arms. An hour since their little alarm clock had woken them up again and she had just now conceded to go back to dreamland after being changed, cuddled, and cooed at by both of her loving but thoroughly exhausted new parents.
"Or when we said this mansion was too quiet at night?" Goldie replied, smiling at her husband with her eyes drooping half-closed. "Now the maids bet on how many times WE get woken up in the dead of night by 'certain noises'." Scrooge couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Aye. I hear the butler calls her 'Rooster'. A fitting name, except I can't have her for dinner when she jars me out of a good night's sleep...she'd be tough as old shoe leather like her mother." This elicited an extremely rude if well-deserved gesture from the figure half-buried in rumpled sheets. "I just wish there were two of me - one to handle her and one to take you on our first date in too long."
Her same old devilish smile returned even as he said it. "Be careful what you wish for, cowboy. I've got a babysitter for tomorrow - I mean tonight - and I don't want to hear one single complaint about business appointments or the like out of your beak, mister."
Scrooge managed not to roll his eyes or sigh and repeated the two most important words in a marriage for a man to remember. "Yes dear." If he were stepping over a minefield while holding a stick of TNT, Scrooge tiptoed back to the nursery. Ach, Goldie, you little minx. At your word I'll tell billionaires to reschedule and presidents to come back another day. But this time, I swear I'll remember the 'accessories'!
He couldn't have noticed the tiny smirk creeping across Goldie's face or her favorite hairpin taped under the headrest by her pillow with the thinnest pink thread tied around it.
He may own half the world, but I still get my way.
