Age: 18
Fely to her friends and family, and Lizzie to everyone else, Ms. Torres really isn’t a true blue Filipino. She’s actually Japanese. A World War 2 Baby, she’s pure Japanese, adopted by the Torreses.
Cute, weird and a bit of a loner, she’s an easy target for her schoolmates. School can do that to you. It also doesn’t help she looks different from everyone else. She got a few acquaintances here and there, but no solid friendships to bail her out. Yep, for her, School’s a bitch. She’s bullied by the girls
She know’s she’s adopted, she know’s she’s different, and she knows no one is going to accept her. Save for her family of course, but they really don’t know what it’s like out there. She’s also blind to the fact that her family really does love her. She misunderstands their affections, and she really doesn’t see that she can be accepted fully. Because of this, she’s ran away a couple of times. She’s too stubborn to note the effect it has on her parents.
She’s basically looking for acceptance that no one, even her parents, she thinks, will give.
She’s a pretty smart girl, but doesn’t realize or accept things because she’s stubborn. She’s less tragic than Juan, she has the means of getting out of her situation if she only thinks things through.
Did we mention she plays the guitar really really well?

Absolutely gorgeous, man. I really liked her in "i'll keep you too" but this is amazing. Her facial expression tells all (the backdrop on her was neat, but you did an excellent job portraying her persona through her face!). The colours are beautiful--I really like the variations of browns. It gives the image a sort of empty warmness...which I question the point of empty warmness, now. Hmm...
Anyway (!), spectacular skin tone and the slight glowing of the highlights in her hair is amazing. That t-shirt design is pretty sweet, as well! Such a lovely image!!

i like the color selection that you chose, but for some reason, the hard lines of the black and white version ended up appealing more to me so i faved that one. for me i think the soft shading in the face, lost the nice hard edge contrast the original b/w had. or i was thinking what if the colors had been used less for shading, like your "desktop music" piece-

i like this, but i have a couple issues with it: the text on her shirt and the highlights in her hair. the text looks kind of flat to me, and its a bit ornate, so it keeps pulling my eye down to her chest. as for the hair, the rest of the piece is shaded very smoothly, and the highlights looks kind of jagged and harsh. these two things are also the brightest parts of the piece, so i'm having a hard time overlooking them. maybe i'm crazy. i like the fact very much though, and the background looks great.

By the way, your coloring technique still rocks, and how do you give it that textrure? Does it come with the papaer or did you added it digitally?

thanks! and as for the texture, it's a scanned corkboard! a technique i learned from one of my first dA-idols, * Nicc593 . it's great for covering up shoddy coloring jobs (i.e., mine), haha!

beautifully shaded I love that soft colour...gorgeous, sad eyes. Just one thing, that panel on the shirt ...looks really flat and doesn't contour with her curves.. but apart from that i love it!
