Unfortunately this is the only remotely decent shot I got from my first camping trip by myself, this was the first night and the second had no clouds so I went home early a bit disappointed but at least it was peaceful.Processing:
I only took one exposure but realised when I got home that it was too dark on the left so I made another lighter exposure from the RAW file and manually blended them in Photoshop CS3. I then did some minor levels adjustment and cloned out a couple of dust spots.
Edit: Fixed the noise and white balance problem that Mark and Drew pointed out.

Lovely shot though. If I were you I'd hide all the other comments cause they made me go from "that's beautiful" to "oh...I see what they're talking about". Especially Mark's...tell him to hush it.

Haha it's all in your head, you could still go camping randomly just take a taser or knife so you feel safe
Na I'm on DA to get comments like the ones from Mark, they help me far more than comments like 'that's beautiful', I still like to get those comments but I don't mind people seeing the critical ones, that way they might learn too.

I could, but a taser or knife could easily be used against me. It sucks bum being a girl with all the stupid scary men out there...not to mention wild animals! I actually was out for one of my 6km walks today and a freakin' coyote came out of nowhere right in front of me. Though I have to admit it was way cooler than scary.

Are you a christian? Maybe just draw a beard on your face then, if you can't beet them, join them. That is cool, would make you jump though. Do you have beers where you are cos I probably wouldn't go camping if there were beers around? The are no dangerous animals in NZ, the worst thing are sharks (really rare here) and one breed of venomous spider but I don't think they kill you unless you are allergic.

Haha my bad, I have a pretty good memory but when it comes to spelling nothing stays in my head. It's weird how safe NZ is compared to Canada, only 4 million people here so crime is pretty low and no dangerous animals so you would be really safe to go camping in NZ. I guess it sucks bum that you were born Canadian too haha?

This is a nice shot! One thing, you can see the 2nd shot too much, the sky is good but you can totally see it in the sand and sea... lot more grain and different WB.

Thanks, yeah I did a bad job on that ay, that's what happens when you process in the early morning. Dunno why there is more noise on the lighter layer, I changed the exposure from the RAW file so it should be sweet, any thoughts on that?

not too sure, my only thought is because you have lightened... noise often comes out when you lighten from shadows... you may want to try lighting using a combination of methods first. not sure... its got me stumped!

I looked at the original and it's slightly noisier on the left so lightening it must have made it more obvious, it's weird that the noise isn't even though. I just uploaded another edit and this time I left it a bit darker, I think it works a lot better than the first one I uploaded.

That looks WAY better! It has sorted out the WB problem too! That may mean you wont notice the noise. The reason the noise is worse in the darker half is because it comes out in shade and midtones... odd that you got so much at ISO 100. Could be the longer exposure.

Ah yeah, I'll remember that about shade and midtones. Yeah it is weird, don't think it was the long-exposure because I had long-exposure noise reduction on in camera, it's probably the aperture because I know dust spots are really clear at F22 but not at F3.5. Cheers for the help man!
