-Needlessly dark
-Excessive amount of non-canon characters
-They made Tails useless
-Almost no Badnicks from the games show up
-Feels almost not at all like the games
-Dulcy was super annoying
-They ended with a cliffhanger, one of TV's greatest sins
In the end the only canon appearances of the Freedom Fighters and Cluck were in Sonic Spinball, and they have since been quickly forgotten. -_-

Ah. I see. To be fair tough, at the time the show was made the only sonic games that had been released was Sonic 1 and 2, and at that point, the only characters from the games were Sonic, tails and Robotnik, all of whom made an appearance in the show itself. Its true that Sonic CD did come out that year too, but at that point Satam had already begun airing.Β

But in all seriousness Eggmanβs also really strong too. I mean he was a power type character in the Riders series.

Gotta wonder what his exercise routine is like in order for him to look so fat yet be so fast and strong? Is it a kingpin type deal where he looks fat but itβs actually mostly muscle? One thing to keep in mind is that Eggman is a mad scientist so he probably did something to himself.
Another question is considering heβs both super strong and can outrun Sonic, if Eggman should consider ditching the mechs and just fight Sonic in a one on one fight. Donβt know about you but I think itβd be funny if Eggman just dominates against Sonic in a physical fight. I mean he was a masked wrestler in the Sonic X comics and I do like to think that might have been something he did in his past before fighting Sonic.
Iβd actually like to a story that actually depicts Eggmanβs life story in the style of Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Like have it span from his childhood all the way to his first fight with Sonic. Iβm sure he might have lived an interesting life.

Well Sonic has survived crashing down to earth from Space, so with that in mind I think Eggman realizes he would have a hard time beating him on his own. XD

So basically Eggman is Wolverine mixed with Dr Octopus.
To be fair we donβt know the full extent of his physical abilities. I mean we know he can outrun Sonic but can he out punch/lift Knuckles?
One idea for Eggmanβs past is that he might have been an Indiana Jones style adventurer at some point. I mean he seems to have an interest in Ancient civilizations and relics and he did say he used to be a teacher.

Gerald was also familiar with ancient Echidnas so who's to say he wasn't also into archaeology and there by also get Ivo into archaeology along with science. Also maybe he had terrible parents and that's why he gravitated towards Gerald (I actually got some ideas for how to go about his parents including a reimagined Mama Robotnik). Did Eggman ever meet Maria when he was younger? What was he doing while his grandfather and cousin were on the Ark? I like to think that he was younger than Maria and might have had video chats with Gerald. Although I'm not sure how he'd not already know about Shadow, maybe since it was a government project they weren't allowed to talk about the experiments on the Ark including Shadow. Could imagine a scene in where Gerald and Maria finish a video chat with Ivo and then tell Shadow how they wish that he could meet Ivo someday or something. There's also timeline placements to consider and the history of the Sonic version of Earth and how similar it'd be to ours?

Thats a very good question. There is also the whole "Two worlds" Thing that SEGA seems to want to be the case with the Sonic franchise too right now, one world where Sonic and friends come from, and another populated my Humans. Maybe a form of chaos control or something temporarily brought much of the Sonic world's things to the human earth? And if so what brought Ivo to Sonic's world in the first place?

Yeah, considering how Gerald was studying Echidna society and the Chaos Emeralds, maybe Ivo looked at that bit of research and maybe discovered some sort of Chaos Control Star Gate type of thing. In terms of time periods Iβd probably place Eggmanβs first encounter with Sonic in 1991. Then what time periods are used would depend on how old you think Eggman is?

Well..if we place the first encounter in 1991...it also depends a little with the current Sonic games. Like I said, right now SEGA goes by the two world canon, and with that in mind..is there a time difference between the two worlds? Does time go much faster on Sonicβs world? Or slower? Could explain why they donβt seem to age that much. My guess is that Eggman is in his 40-50s.Β

I mean the two world stuff originated from Sonic X (at least as far as Japanese canon goes) and they had time move differently on Mobius vs Earth, so that seems reasonable. I also do imagine that Eggman is somewhere in his 40s or 50s, so maybe he was born somewhere in the 40s or 50s. So depending on what age the story would start him at it'd probably begin in either the 50s or 60s?

Another idea that popped in my head while I was pondering how a Sonic RPG could work possibly in the style of the Mario and Luigi games, one idea for game came to mind where Sonic and friends end up inside of Eggman's head while you play as Eggman in the overworld (king of like Bowser's inside story). I think that would allow some room to explore Eggman's backstory with the Sonic characters interacting with past versions of Eggman from different points in his life in his memories.Β

I mean it wouldn't be as cartoonish as Mario. It would be similar to Mario and Luigi in terms of being a turn based RPG where you play as two characters, have team attacks, so on. Just with a more Sonic flair.Β

I can see that, but when I meant cartoonish, I thought about the concept itself of Sonic getting into Eggman's body. I could see it happening in something like "Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog" But...IDK....If it happened I'd imagine that Eggman's body would be more like a...realistic one if you catch my drift.Β

ah okay, thanks for the clarification. Yeah I'd imagine Eggman's body would be more realistic since physically he's just a regular human (despite his apparent super human abilities). Which is why I pictured them being in Eggman's subconsciousΒ rather than his body in general, basically think like an entire world inside his head similar to what was presented in Pixar's Inside Out... Unless you think that's just as cartoonish?
I actually got the idea for a Sonic and Tails RPG series when I was tying to think of a Mario and Sonic crossover could be done with out making about them at the Olympics. One idea I had was to make it an RPG in the style of the Mario and Luigi games since I figured that way we'd be able to see more character interactions between the Mario and Sonic casts. I also figured the format would fit a Sonic RPG since a known feature of the Genesis games is that Tails would follow Sonic around kind of like how you have Mario and Luigi follow each other in that series.

Well something like that could work...or I suppose you could go the DC route when the Atom entered the Joker's brain in order to cure something there. He was hit by this brain-waves in the form of lightning and it gave him visions/Hallucinations of the Joker's memories.Β

Yeah I imagined the plot being where a new villain shows up who merges the Mario and Sonic Universes and Mario, Sonic, Luigi, and Tails are the only ones who remember the worlds originally being separate and set out the return things to normal. I also picture Eggman and Bowser going to war with each other while the heroes get caught in the middle.
As for the Sonic and Tails RPG series idea, so I havenβt come up with any premises for it that are derivative of Mario and Luigi plots. Already told you the Egg Heads premise. I picture the series also being a way to incorporate comic and cartoon elements into the game universe (or make it its own continuity, which ever works). So I imagine the first game being a loose adaptation of the comic story arc where Sonic and Tails have to chase down Naugus. Basically Naugus causes some trouble in the Acorn Kingdom so they call Sonic and Tails to stop him.

Heh funny how you mention the worlds being merged cause that actually happened in a recent Batman/TMNT Crossover. In that one, the Joker actually got merged with the Shredder becoming "The Laughing man".Β

Well my idea of the Mario and Sonic worlds merging didn't involve actual characters merging, but rather locations and elements merging. Like for example Angle Island and Donkey Kong Island would be merged and the Master Emerald is merged with the Banana Horde with Knuckles and Donkey Kong as co guardians, or maybe the Echidnas and Kongs are rival clans who battle for control of the island with the Echidnas being a third faction of the Kong-Kremling War. Just a general idea.

Originally I pictured that somewhere in the middle of the game Sonic and Tails would go super and defeat Naugus and think they're done, only for Naugus' spirit to then possess Eggman and take control of the his army and the Chaos Emeralds would become unavailable for some reason. But I figured that would be too derivative of Super Star Saga.
