Leo gently ran his fingers through Flaith’s mane. The sun was deserting them, abandoning them to the night, and the heavy blanket of clouds made it seem much darker than it should be.

               Flaith snorted and eagerly listened to all that was going on. He was loving the show ring more and more and more. It was always so exciting!

               There was a sudden commotion, and Leo turned his gaze to see everyone staring at a maniac running wildly through the crowds, looking for something. He groaned when he realized that maniac was his brother. “Zenith!” he called, and the figure stopped. His head shot around wildly looking for the sort of the noise.

               “Over here!” Leo called, and Flaith suddenly whinnied as though to call out to Zenith as well.

               Finally Zenith spotted them, and came charging over. “We have a major problem!” he shouted.

               Leo’s heart skipped a beat. “What? What is it? WHAT!?”

               “WE DIDN’T PREPARE A COSTUME.”

               Leo raised his eyebrows. “Er…what?”

               Zenith stared at his brother. “This is serious. We didn’t prepare a costume for you twO! And it’s a Halloween show!”

               “Zenith, I am not going to parade around in some sort of fancy get up. I’m here to ride, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

               “If only had some colored duct tape and a bedazzler, then I could really come up with something for you two…” Zenith mused, apparently not listening.

               “Zenith! I said no costume!” Leo hissed.

               Suddenly Zenith’s eyes lit up. A stupid grin stole his face and he bounced I the air. “I KNOW JUST WHAT TO DO!” he said, and he took off again.

               Leo glanced over at Flaith. “Someone has got to keep him away from any source of caffeine.”

               When Zenith returned, Leo was only more confused when he saw what was in his arms. “What are those?”

               “Vines from the woods,” Zenith beamed proudly. He went over to Flaith and started winding them and attaching them to his tack. Flaith nickered as though he were giggling – apparently the vines tickled.

               Zenith stepped back and admired his handywork. “IT’S PERFECT!”

               Leo rolled his eyes. True, Flaith looked…kinda, sorta, not-really cool, but it was hardly a masterpiece.

               Zenith now stared at his brother in a way that was making Leo feel uneasy.

               “Now we need a costume for you,” Zenith said, a wicked smile on his face.

               Leo gulped. But suddenly he smiled victoriously at Zenith. “But you’re out of material! And you don’t have time to get more. Ah well, I guess I don’t get a costume then.”

               “But you need to match!” Zenith whined.

               “No, really, we”- Leo started, but was abruptly interrupted when he became aware of Zenith messing with his hair. “Er…what are you doing?”

               Zenith didn’t answer. He stepped back and tilted his head to the side like a curious cat. “Meh,” he announced finally. “It’ll do.”

               Suddenly Leo was overcome with a dreading thought that he looked really stupid, but fortunately for Zenith, there wasn’t a mirror around.

               Zenith grinned and then trotted out happily, leaving his brother to stand there and wonder what the heck had been done to his hair.
