Yeah, sorry watchers, I know this is kinda dark for me :/
Like I said, on a prehistoric kick, and I always find the Fishehs the coolest! WOW this was so beautiful and then PSD (haha we're not really getting along that well right now) messed it up and to save it I had to cover the lines with these thick gooey cartoony lines ugh it's really awful looking now I know LOL!!!
I draw horses, not fish, and certainly not with that many teeth
So yeah I used a ref - a pic of the Xiphactinus skeleton that I took at our Natural History museum on my iPod in front of the computer
And because it was just a skeleton I left out some fins :/
I am sure you guys are so impressed by my fish-drawing skills *sarcasm*

Allow me to direct your attention to this pic of a Xiphactinus skeleton by the talented *ShadowsStocks it's a fantastic photograph but might I just say I DID NOT use this one for my ref (I may upload the one I did use just to prove it and to show you what I was looking at when I painted this LOL)

OMGoldfish if you look up Xiphactinus there is only 82 results I am WAAAAAAAAAY in the minority here haha cool!

Thank you!!! I was worried I would have a lot of difficulty with getting the teeth right! The lighting patterns was an afterthought but apparently a good one, thank you! I'm having fun broadening my horizons a little bit...though I may have stretched it too far XD.

Haha if it was smaller, I'd want one in my fish bowl, too! But LOL they got somewhere between 5 to 8 feet in length

You'r very welcome I'd love to see you do more of these types of drawings under water

You could use a shrink ray

Really, though, I'd love to have a nice, big aquarium when I can

LOL and I remember when all I would draw were Hippocampus I should seriously get back onto that bandwagon again

YES. Let me see if I can just get my shrink ray out of the closet, I think it's hiding behind my destructinator, to the left of the not-remotely-useful.
Big fisheh

Their skeletons alone creep me out, and if you watch Chased by Dinosaurs with that Australian dude Nigel? *shudders* Talk about your uber-creepy...the fish, not the dude XD
No, I would not want to run into one of these!

LOL yeah he is absolutely with GINORMOUS really scary fish, pretty much the entire time! So it may not be the thing for everyone...
Although actually in spite of the way it sounds it's not like it's a horror film, in fact they tried to make it look like any other animal documentary, so it's very tame in that sense, and it's BBC so they aren't blood-crazy in any way, pretty minimal gore. The fish are just creepy-cool to look at and watch swimming and hunting and stuffs
Ever seen Walking with Dinosuars per chance? It's made by the same people so if you have seen that it's a good meter for the gore/violence aspect of it, which is really little to none depending on your opinion.

*you, sitting at your computer, die of boredom*
LOL sorry about all that, just saying!

Scutterland In reply to NativeWolf330 [2013-03-17 04:13:19 +0000 UTC]

You can probably find all kinds of little clips and things on Youtube And they have it for sale on DVD at, like, amazon.com
The one we have is called "Chased by Dinosaurs" but it had multiple programs on it and I am trying to think if the sea monster one had it's own name different name... XD

Wow! That's really cool! The light coming from the sky is very realistic! I also love that you have even added the bottom patterns made by light. Magnificent!

Awe, yay!!! So glad you said all that, wonderful!
Yeah, so this is a scary monster fish, which is a little on the horrible side, but I thought the truly wonderful thing about this piece was the light. I'm really happy to see someone pointed that out, Thank you!!!
