Here's my yokai oc for 's YWKT (Yokai Will Know Them) contest!

Name: Rei (霊)

Species: Inugami

Background: Rei was once a family dog; a mother, a father, and two children--a boy and a girl. When she was first adopted, the children made a promise with her: "We'll be with you forever, even when it's your last day!". Her owners were loving until the father started gambling and cheating on the mother every other day, leaving the mother heartbroken and betrayed when she found out. The two children, who loved Rei with all their heart, came to Rei for comfort while the two parents argued restlessly about how their money is low due to the father's obsessions and the mother being in other's business when not needed.

At the family's last dinner, the mother coninued to snap at the father, causing him to lose his sanity. In front of the children and Rei, the father grabbed a fork, jabbing it into the mother's right eye, and a knife to slit her throat. As the mother gargled blood and reached for his wrist to make him stop, the children were screaming from terror. Rei barked at the father constantly until he kicked her in the stomach, making her lay in the dining room floor in pain. He then slit her left ankle and both of her front legs, giving her more pain. The young boy covered Rei, begging his father to stop, making the father now wanting to hurt his son. The daughter was still screaming as she saw her mother dead in her chair. She grabbed a knife and leaped onto the back of her father, trying to avenge her mother's death but instead got her head banged onto the refrigerator door repeatedly, causing her skull to crack and leaving her bleed to death.

The young boy was left alone with his father and barely living dog, Rei. He couldn't grab the phone or run away, he was too traumatized. Panicking, the boy looked for a sharp object near him; the best he found was a fork. He forced the fork into his father's ankles, causing him to fall to his knees which gave his son the advantage of pushing the fork into his neck and throat. The father fell onto his back, lying in his and his daughter's pool of blood.

The son stood up, shaking, and looked at his whole family murdered. Trembling, he threw up from the horror. He had thoughts about calling the police but the scene was too suspicious; they might accuse him of murdering his family instead of his father. He looked down at Rei, she lied on the floor whimpering and he eyes darted towards him. The young boy cried harder and shook his head; Rei was his last surviving family member and he was left with no choice. He clenched his bloodied hands tight and inhaled; he's going to do the inugami ritual. He picked up Rei and carried her to the backyard, luckily it was nighttime so no one could see and question him.

The son performed the ritual and cried as it happened. He loved Rei and wanted her around; she was the only light left in the darkness that happened that night. Each time the boy came to check on Rei, he felt a piece of his heart breaking, especially when he cut off her head and buried it under the nearby noisy street. Two weeks later, the boy took Rei's dismembered body to an abandoned shrinehe prepared to complete the ritual. Moments later, Rei is evoked. The boy smiles trembling but still feels a great amount of guilt. Rei's new body reaches down to him and stroked his face. He looked up at her with tears forming at his waterline as she smiles back with forgiving eyes.

Dislikings: Intruders, close contacts with those that aren't Akio, extremely loud music, nekomatas, snakes
