Am I the only one who was absolutely flabbergasted that Spike and Thorax were able to just stroll right into the throne room of the Crystal Palace undisguised and not be at all noticed until Spike announced himself?

Still, Thorax can make himself look like whatever he wants, so it's not super-implausible...

True, but the episode seemed to have forgotten that when Spike and Thorax just stroll into the throne room undisguised and unopposed until Spike announces himself. They may not have gone undisguised the whole way, certainly, but considering there were a whole swarm of crystal guards running around looking for changelings just outside that throne room door just seconds earlier, the fact that Thorax at least could get there undisguised at any time and not be noticed is a little hard to believe.
So I'm poking fun at that.

He probably could, but seeing that he was undisguised when he strolled through the door of the throne room, the same door we saw a whole mess of royal guards running around searching for him just seconds earlier, at least part of the journey was implied to have been done undisguised, in what should've been plain sight of a whole mess of royal guards and other ponies that would look to stop him.

Maybe, but he was undisguised when he strolled through the door of the throne room, the same door we saw a whole mess of royal guards running around searching for him just seconds earlier, so there still had to be a point of time where he was practically strolling past them, undisguised and unnoticed. I just expanded on that thought further for comedic effect.
