Description

Design for Astrul
This one seemed a little more like a character design so I gave it a humanized expression. The themes were swimming, ocean, stars, galaxies and moon.

I chose to go with the river otter because I believed it would be cuter than the sea otter, that whisker mustache looked a little more like 'old man' than 'cute boy'. His coat pattern resembles the dark blue of the evening sky while also creating stripes to look like a running river. The spots, I wanted to be based off stars, but really they seem more like bubbles, which isn't bad either. I designed the scarf to look like ocean waves and the brooch holding it together is shaped after a spiral galaxy with shell segments. The inner sapphire represents a burning hot star in the middle.

His favorite color is blue, but making the scarf blue as well was too much so I made it more magenta.
Also, the side view of the otter's coat is the same on the other side.
