Description
A short cartoon incorporating some of my favorite aspects of biology and horror. Internet discussion of nightmare fuel, creepypasta and the uncanny valley have all contributed!They're meant to be nameless and mysterious, but I did give nicknames to all the creatures so I could recognize the files, of course. In order of appearance:
-Bogglemen
-Goliathan
-Muzzle & Gnawbaby
-Dumbo heads (inspired by the Ocean Sunfish, but it's probably not obvious)
-Gaper and Sophagus (based on blobfish and basking sharks)
-Chuckleheads!!! (also my favorite obsolete insult)
-Void snort
-Sex angler (lol, yeah)
-Scrutiner (pretty much just the face of a deep-sea hatchetfish)
-Spore angels (inspired by Clione, a type of sea slug)
-Pucker & Nosey (actually based on "Pob" and "Noseybonk" from 80's television in the UK)
-Peepers
-Grumbler
-The swallower

You, Sir (or Miss), are awesome. This has to be the first animation I've ever actually favorite-ed on this site. It was terrifically wicked. My only question, was the image of the guys room a trap, as I guessed, or was it real?

Well. My mutant fish dreams had gotten a bit less scary and a bit more hilarious recently; thanks for re-initializing them and for reminding me that I could be hallucinating this entire life from the inside of a dream-fish's belly.

Stupid giant fish swallowing things and then make them hallucinate so they think they didn't get eaten...
On another note, I wish my nightmares were like this. Mine tend to just be surreal and not creepy in retrospect. Unless they're extremely realistic and feature horrific things happening to my loved ones. Or the ones where I'm back in high school and have to write a final exam for a class I never went to (I really hate that one...give me zombies, ghosts, monsters, serial killers, mutants...anything but a repeat of test anxiety!)

It's not hard! There are so many tricks
Sometimes if I can't think of a good monster I'll just think of an animal I find cool, like, let's say, a jellyfish, and then I'll make that animal out of some other creature, like, say, a lizard. A lizard with a fat, floating body and long, hanging, poisonous arms, so it's LIKE a jellyfish!

The ending was pretty ominous too. I also think the Grumbler looks like some heavy metal/grunge band member with the moppy hair and yellow teeth...

Whoa, nelly. I love of how you plot the ending. It's like the guy had almost gotten eaten by The Swallower, swimming to get out from an abyssal nightmare...or is it really a nightmare? When he goes back to sleep again, it's like he's slowly entering the abyss again, but getting digested by the swallower's huge stomach. It's like if the nightmare is real or the bedroom part is the dream and he's really in the nightmare. Or maybe the nightmare is continuous and never changes.

The ending made me think that waking up and going to sleep again was actually his brief dying dream of sorts. He's actually being slowly ingested inside the monster's body.

You totally captured what the deepsea is like: The weirdest creatures nature has to offer are all around you, but you can only see them when they are to close to avoid them. And all the time you're not sure if you really want to see them.
I personally love weird creatures, but no ten horses would get me to dive down there!
