Description
Arthropods and parasites have been my two favorite topics since I was damn near a baby, yet it somehow escaped me until only days ago that a lot of ticks have eyes. It's not mentioned in any book I have! Eyes located more or less where I've drawn them here.I've also included the mysterious "porose areas," two dense patches of pits above the female's mouth parts which serve some vague sensory function.
We can also see one of her Haller's organ, a bristle-lined hole on each of the front most legs which could be considered the "noses" of a tick.

How cute :3... well for a tick. real world ones I kinda want to avoid if only because they're parasites.

Didn't you have a blurb on one of your sites about a science book that inexplicably put human eyes on an otherwise accurate illustration of a tick?

I don't remember! Sounds like something I might have commented on, but it also sounds like something I'd vividly and fondly recall

Maybe it was a dust mite or some other minuscule beastie. It's vague. But I'm sure I saw an article or blog post somewhere where the writer commented on the weird human eyes on a serious insect illustration, and I can't imagine anyone besides you creating such an article. But then again I also thought you were the blogger with the little plastic outhouse golem, and that turned out to be Nathan Newell's Dork Dimension.

Now I remember! I think I reblogged it somewhere on tumblr, but I dunno where!
Dust mites, as far as I know, really don't have any.

Found it: [link] Searching "dust mite" in the singular didn't work but "dust mites" did.

I came back from a walk outside once and found no less than 12 ticks on me. I guess I'm just extra tasty o-o

The giant cutesy eyes are definitely scarier than anything on a real tick's body.

So sweaty malodorous feet might be quite annoying to a tick?
