Hookworms (genus Necator) are parasitic nematodes of the small intestine, where they suck blood in such quantities that a heavy infestation can result in acute anemia. Eggs are passed in feces, and larvae infect new hosts by tunneling through skin. Most infections are a result of walking barefoot!

I'm doing a hookworm creepypasta for your cook-off! The story incorporates lots of biology facts, and will probably be scarier for people who know them already.

Hook worms are so creepy... Aside from the creep factor though, I think they're actually kind of cute.... (Says the girl who thinks that haunted house workers are adorable and had a pet spider for a few weeks... ._.;

Creep factor? Sir, you are quite plainly mad! You couldn't say no to a face like that!
Those metaphorical puppy eyes are just plain irresistible, you know?

xD Garden snails are pretty cool, yo. They're quiet, unlike my kittens...
Kittens: -partially siamese--loud as heck when bored-
Chesh: -ignores kitten for short while-
Kitten: MOOOOM! -begins yowling-
Chesh: -palmface-
Kitten: -walks around house, gets brother to start yowling-
Chesh: STFU! -attempts to pet/playwith-
Kittens: NOWAIMOMMY! -yowl--flee-
Chesh: >:[
Kittens: -sneak up on--smack bum with all claws out- >!
Chesh: T-T OWIE.
Kittens: -continue to yowl--eventually attempt to murder one another--yowl more--finally go to sleep--smother Chesha with their big fat butts-

Oh how amazing <3
I have five snails, a slug, a cricket and two bottle raised kittens... Hehe. :/ Most of my creepy crawlies are dead and preserved now (like my baby possums pickled on my shelf and the skeleton of my poor garter snake my cat killed when I was young >
Lucky guy. u_u I'm thinking about getting a scorpion or a mudpuppy soon.

Aw, what kinda snails? And you had possums?!
I had an axolotl, but it died while I was away. I've been looking everywhere for another with no luck so far :/

lol, garden snails u_u I stole them out of my mum's back yard. I didn't so much have possums as I did baby possums... For like, an hour. The mom was hit outside my house and we stole the babies (I was young, dad said 'OBABIES!' and I went BABIIIIEs! D:!)... We do however have a mostly tame possum scurrying around at my mums. He thinks he's a cat... Grew up around a feral litter we care for.
Axolotls are muy cute. If you don't mind it being brown and saving it from intent to be turned into fish food you can check baitshops. That's where I got my puppy. (Also: Poor puppy T-T -hugs it-)

I just have garden snails too, but they're thumb-size, which is the biggest I've seen and probably the biggest I'll ever be allowed to have here in America. A giant African land snail is my DREAM pet, but completely illegal ><
Possums are so utterly adorable, I've gotten to handle babies before, for just an hour...they hadn't opened their eyes yet!
How could anybody use a mudpuppy as bait D:

Aye, same with frieda, Cali, Baysun, Hay, and Tree. Hehe ^^ I wish there was a way to keep nudibranches that was accessible to me. Those are really pretty... -iz gurl--likes pretty things- lol
Aye they are xD Poor Pogo is mostly full grown but he's so silly. The momma cat beat the heck out of him and he just kinda stood there then slowly meandered off. He hides his face when he gets yelled at xD
I dunno D: When my dad took me fishing I kind of latched onto the tank for that very reason... They're so cute T-T

Yeah I'd love nudibranchs, but saltwater is challenging and even if you're good at it, nudibranchs have such specific diets that most people can never feed them
