Giant water bugs are pretty laid back as long as they're occupied with food.Related content

that would really scare me, i one of those people that are afraid of handling arthropods for fear of crushing them or scaring them so that they bite/claw/spray/do bad things to me

XD I was going to say, "You're HOLDING a giant water bug?" but I didn't know they relaxed when they had food. Giant water bugs eat very interestingly, not unlike a spider but I guess it just seems "cooler" because the enzymes in their spit dissolve organs for easy slurpage XD But you already knew that didn't you? ;D

Well, they're helpless anyway as long as you hold them from the thorax like I am. I used to pick them up by the tip of the tail and that always seemed safe, until I picked one up that way and it started bending towards my thumb! I had NEVER seen one even try to bend its body before and had no idea they could. It didn't get me, though.

I got one of these guys yesterday from Ken the Bug Guy! Now I have to outfit his little tank and buy him little fishies.

...kind of like myself!
What an adorable little buggie. I wish I had one for a pet or something. We could go swimming together.
