Media: plain A4 paper + 0.7mm black ballpen + SAI
WARNING: This comic isn't going to be pretty! Please do not proceed further if the history bothers you
Characters/Pairings: Russia / China (country-names used)
The bottom two third of the page deviated quite a bit from actual history.
1. If I recall my history correctly, China and Japan were already on bad term by the time China and Russia started to have some minimal foreign relation (17th century). But here I have Japan in the group, glancing back at Russia, well it's not completely out of random, Japan was a very very crucial piece of puzzle
2. I have no way to tell Russia and China's psychology towards each other (if there's such a thing as 'psychology'), but to my (limited) knowledge, Russia been so up north and isolated was welcoming to connections, especially since his involvement on Europe side was difficult; however China, been very much himself, can't see anyone other than his dark haired dark eyed relatives - I don't think that would constitute a good start...
3. The person on the very right (with long braid) is North Korea. Of course, the notion of two Koreas doesn't exist hundreds years ago, I created this character for the sake of convenience
4. If the age appearance theoretically should correspond to the maturity of nation and its culture, most characters here would appear as adults. But, beh, I have a thing for cute baby!Ivan and who would be there to stop me?

Thank you for the comment! I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but I will try my best to respond (=
In a sense, they don't. Hongkong and Taiwan do not have independent culture from the rest of China, it is fair to say they don't have childhood. Although I'm not completely sure about Vietnam, she has her unique history(let's say, "childhood") away from China, and she was an independent state, but she did spend most of her time been annexed by China.
Well, come back to it, it is Hetalia, everything is a bit blurred. I try not to struggle too much about historical accuracy, I like drawing little kiddies because they are cute (=

Actually, at one point in history you can say there were THREE Koreas...Goguryeo, Silla, and Baekjae.

Thank you for the comment! I learnt something (=
Maybe I should have specified that the time frame the scene had taken place is the 17th century, which was during the Joseon Dynasty, I believe there was only one Korea during that point of time. But please correct me if I'm wrong!
