Description
This was a project for my current drawing class, the idea was to "capture the essence" of water. This piece was done by laying a charcoal ground and erasing the drawing, then adding white chalk pastel afterward. I'm reasonably pleased with this piece.Related content

I had a really hard time with that also. I remember going to bed frustrated the night before it was due. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at it the following morning. Art is funny like that sometimes. My advice, for what it's worth: use a photo as reference. Also, I find walking away from a piece when it starts to look odd useful. You'll likely see what's wrong immediately when you return to it with fresh eyes

Ha ! I experienced exactly the same..
I was so upset, I thought I would get a bad mark , but the week after when i looked at it again i was like "what the .." it looked completely different to me, just because not looking at it for a few days.. crazy haha (:

Thank you! Unfortunately my prof at the time had a real hate on for realism, but I'm pleased enough with the outcome to make up for how much he disliked my style
