Really love this series of shots! The lighting is gorgeous. And you have a SMOKE MACHINE. That's so exciting. Ashley is a really unique doll, and your photography always inspires me to improve on mine.

My AOD Chi had a fall on his first outdoor photoshoot so I know how you feel about Ashley falling. Took him out, got him into position - and a sudden gust of wind came out of nowhere and pushed him over. Now he has a small chip on his nose. I was so upset.

Thank you for your kind comment! I really appreciate it, and the fact that I can inspire someone to continue to continue a hobby (or art form ha) is just amazing. Thank you OTL OTL OTL

Side note: Totally thought I was already following you on dA... I love your Instagram account!! Also the fact someone so talented follows me is just...

I wish there was a way to fix the chip! that's a total bummer... if it was just a dent you could boil his nose and fix it..?

You're welcome! Thank you so much for your kind comment! It makes me really happy to know you enjoy my work c:

To be honest, I'm not very good at the 'hands-on' part of the hobby - I don't do much of the fiddly stuff myself. So I'd have to get someone else to do it. But I'm not sure really. It doesn't feel dented, but there's a mark that won't come off even though he's just had a new face-up. I just tend to edit it out in photos. It is a bit of a bummer but I guess that's what I guess for not bringing a stand with me when I took him out!

Hrm... well can you take a picture for me? Maybe a close up - if you feel like it that is. I'd be willing to see if there is anything we can do!

<-- loves the fiddly stuff part hahaha

OK, thanks! This is the best I've got right now, he's packed away at the moment. It's a little brown mark that just won't come off - don't know if it's a tiny dent or not, I can't really feel it. (Excuse his dusty face.)

Hrm. yeah I see the mark (he's got an amazing face up!!!) But yeah at this point I can't really tell either - if it's just a mark. a tiny bit of a magic eraser would get rid of it easily, however it'll also get rid of any MSC (the sealant that holds the makeup) too. But you could just re-seal it after. If you get more pics I'd be happy to look at him to see if I could help.

If it is a dent, the best bet is boiling his face, resin - when casted - has the specific shape it holds, so when heated it turns basically to a memory foam... taking back the original casted shape. If it's a small dent, even scratches, will lift back out and it'll go back to looking new.

Now, with boiling and having a faceup - in MY experience, when I boiled some BJD hands (with blushing and nails painted) nothing happened. Which was nice. Basically the blushing and paint didn't come off - but that was the one time I did it. Depending on if it's a dent or a chip I would or maybe wouldn't try the boiling method...
Note that I've also seen people dye BJD heads with faceups and be in the clear, in terms of faceups not being ruined, with that. So chances are... you could boil him and be fine - but I can't say it's a 100%

Hope some of this helps... sorry for ranting and whatnot. Tolda ya Fiddlin' is part of my faves... haha

His faceup is by Ohbeesneeze, I really love it. Which reminds me, the incident actually happened before his custom faceup was done so it must be a dent, or it would have been removed when his original faceup came off. Which is annoying. I wouldn't want to risk ruining anything by attempting to boil the resin so I guess he's stuck with it. No one else has ever commented on it, but it is irritating to think "There's that mark from when I was stupid enough to let my doll fall on his face..." every time I look at him.

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it!

Hey most welcome! I totally understand not wanting to risk it! If you ever change his faceup maybe you can try it then.

Glad to help!

I'm the same way when posing my dolls!! I'm so worried they're going to crash on their faces and chip their noses.

He fell... so... many... times during this shoot! LOL I NEVER have them fall - but he fell 4 times. On his face. Lucky it was a soft landing... but still. This was insane for me. Hahah
