Cept' it's not Hell I'm working on A Hell-like world, with difficult wilds and rough terrain, but a thriving society.
From Top to Bottom-
Varoot- The oldest 18, Lazy and disinterested in most things, he thinks very rationally and can keep calm in most situations. He is a Staeria (tbh didn't know this until just now since I bought him from someone else, he's part of an Open Species) (He was going to be a Demon)
Cyril- The youngest and Step brother to Varoot, 14, He's the "Cute one" and Get's into trouble but hates dealing with Consequences, He's really smart though. He is a Beast.
Ty- (Needs a new name) Is 17, and the childhood Friend of Varoot, Will fight anyone not that he's good at it, and is very clumsy and energetic. He is very brave and a good friend. He's a Devil.
Also~I finished a Background!! and hope to get a lot better at it XD~
This is my first time doing a background in this style, and I wonder if it clashes with the style of the characters, dosen't look finished enough, or Otherworldly enough? I was trying to go for a hellish deep and expansive world.

You discussed in your description that you were unsure if the background fitted, was other-wordly enough or had an impact.
I can say that with looking at it for the first time that there was an impact.
Personally, I feel that the colours are fantastic and the characters are very original, cute and very well drawn, however I feel that the piece could use more contrast, if you wish for it to have more of an impact, I would say the 'sky' in the background should be very dark and have the lava cast silhouette and shadow on the characters, this would make the characters stand out more and give a real focus on the lava, the more alien and illuminated the lava is, the more dangerous it would seem.
The only other thing I would say would make it more impactful is to darken the existing shadows and darken the lineart, simply because it would make the characters feel more three dimensional.

I really, really like the compositon and the floating rocks that constitute the background!
I’ll start by agreeing with LilDaeva’s critique and say you could use more contrast between the foreground and background. The floating rocks and characters create a really neat silhouette which will look amazing when the FG and BG have more value and contrast difference. Making the sky darker is one possible way. Personally I could see the opposite too though: having the BG low-contrast, and a bit brighter, and the FG high-contrast with some deep shadows. I painted a quick example of how I mean:
The proportions and details on the characters are generally quite good. I only notice small things, like the blonde’s head seems a bit bigger than the others’, and that character’s facial expression is also a bit harder to grasp in my opinion. Not sure if he’s angry, shy or annoyed haha. However that Varoot guy is especially my type haha, and his face is wonderfully drawn!
Overtall though this is a really cool illustration. It showcases the characters well and also works in establishing an awesome-looking setting. It piques a viewer’s curiosity about their world and their lifestyle, which is a great accomplishment!
