There aren't many women featured in the Star Trek franchise, so here's a tribute to some of the most powerful leading ladies. Here are the girls and their interesting Star Trek firsts from left to right.Note: (FRN) means Franchise, (TML) means timeline. The difference is that franchise starts with TOS and goes through to ENT, while the timeline technically starts with ENT and goes to VOY. Also- When I say "First ___", I mean "first MAIN CHARACTER ___". Minor characters are for the weeeeeeeaaaak.
ENT- T'Pol: First Vulcan aboard a human ship (TML)
VOY- 7 of 9: First female Borg Drone, First partial-Borg main character
(wait, does Picard count as partial-borg?)
TNG- Beverly Crusher: First female CMO, First female doctor (FRN)
TOS- Uhura: First African-American (FRN), First inter-racial character kiss on an American TV series, First Female promoted to Commander (FRN)
VOY- Kathryn Janeway: First female Captain
TNG- Deanna Troi: First Counselor, First [half] Betazoid
DS9- Jadzia Dax: First Trill

Hmm, interesting! I haven't made it up to Enterprise yet, so I was going off of what Memory Alpha said. I made this before I saw DS9, even- I would've put Kira in instead of T'Pol, but I didn't really even know she existed, so I was just grabbing at straws xP Thanks for the input!

I've only really seen one episode of DS9, but I absolutely loved it and I'm totally looking forward to seeing more it, and Voyager.

I'm not too fussed about Voyager, but I'd really recommend DS9. The characters are brilliant and some of the plots are just awesome. For some reason, most of Voyager never really appealed to me. It's probably because I'm not a huge fan of Captain Janeway. But don't let me put you off! Any Star Trek is still amazing in my book!

I can't wait to watch some more DS9. The one I saw was "Trials and Tribble-ations" and I completely fell in love after only one episode. Not only was it so awesome for them to mix old and new footage like that, but it was funny, the characters were intriguing/adorable. 
Especially, for some reason, Odo. His grouchy demeanor, sarcasm, snickering.

Odo is brilliant. He has a particularily dry sense of humour that is just hysterical. My favourites would have to be Dr Bashir and Chief O'Brien. The two of them are just brilliant together and they have a lot of great episodes later on.
But everyone on DS9 is just amazing. There isn't a single main character that I don't like!

His evil little chuckle is just the greatest XDD Something about his voice and demeanor kinda reminded me of Rorschach in Watchmen.

I love the way he torments Quark all the time. The two of them are just brilliant! The constant game of wits between them is one of the best parts of the series in my opinion.

That's so awesome. The whole "characters who bicker" thing was completely eliminated after the Spock and Bones era, cos Picard runs his ship and manages his crew well, but....
....stuffily. XD

Captain Picard is rather stuffy, isn't he! Although in Nemesis, he shows that he has a rather reckless love of "unsafe velocities!" Namely driving all-terrain vehicles at ridiculously fast speeds and giving Data a "What are you doing?" stare when he suggested that maybe he should pilot the escape vehicle instead of the captain who had no idea what he was doing. Lots of little incidents like that show that he's not quite as stuffy as he may sometimes seem! I must say, Picard is my favourite Starfleet captain.

Oh, yeah, he's not always stuffy in the action department, more in the relationship department. We watched "Starship Mine" where he had to take back the enterprise, and he became his own one-man-army with his crossbow and just beating the crap out of the bad guys.
But then in the next episode, he falls in love with this stupid lady in space-cartology or whatever and he was all sappy with her and Beverly was all sad, and it was gross and the lady sucks and the episode was lame.

Captain Picard with a croosbow? I'll definitly have to watch that one! I've never seen the other episode, but I'm aware of it. Don't they do some sort of keyboard/flute duet thing? I've never been fond of romantic episodes. Give me bad guys, Borg and space battles any day!

Oh my god he kicks so much ass in that episode it's ridiculous. It's like you stopped watching star trek and switched to James Bond or something. One-man-army, I tell you. Total beast.
Yeah, they do, and it's lame. Real lame. For this reason, I'm usually against romantic episodes......but on the other hand, I am quite fond of when that romance is Picard/Beverly...

If you like Picard/Beverly, I'd recommend the novels set in the 2380s. The Destiny Trilogy and beyond have a lot of Beverly and Picard. They actually get married and have a son!
