Description Seeing as I don't really have anything new to upload I'm putting a couple oldies up. This I did a couple years back but only managed to colour it recently.
A re-design of one of the coolest things to come outta X-Force. Shatterstar's a cool character and if written well could be a decent character in the Marvel U. But I figured he needed an updated costume that showed him to be the bad ass mutant from another world he is. And ta-daa!
Hope ya all dig it.

this is awsome beyond description. Shatterstar is already one of my favs. Do you have one for Rictor. I like the beard and it gives him an older look. I wish they both were used more and in better ways in the books.

I haven't drawn Rictor sadly. I think they've been done pretty well in X-factor tho.

Oh yeah, the jacket is a must. My OC, Amaranth has one as apart of her costume (which reminds me, do you do commisions and if you do, what kind of payments do you take?).

Nice.
Yeah I do take commissions. The prices are at the bottom of my journal page and the payment details I'll send to you once you've decided on what you'd like done. Usually the money would get paid straight to my account.

I saw your work and my first thought was 'I need this guy to design for me.' Hero Machine only gets you so far.

How do you feel about designing two female superhero costumes for me? It looks like it'll be cheaper to get you to do two people at once.

Unfortuanatly, I'm very finiky about what I like, so there's going to be a lot of information (it's for the X-Men fanfic I'm writing - don't hold that against me - so I'll be giving you ifnformation about parental background as well, that okay?). I'm just getting it, so expect a note fairly soon.

Excellent. I suppose getting a feel for the characters help to draw them.

Okay, I'll note you soon.

It's really ironic that this started on the Shatterstar page.

Yeah it does, gives a sense of personality to them I guess.

Cool cool.

Haha, how is it ironic??

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 11:12:48 +0000 UTC]

I find it does, I dress in what I feel suits me as a person, so.

Like I said, it's for my X-Men fanfiction. It's taking bits and pieces from both the movies (Pyro, one of my favorite charcters for ever and a day) and the comics (mostly current X-Factor).

One of the girls is Rictor and 'Stars 'daughter', The other one of 'Stars 'genetic doners'.

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 11:18:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that makes sense.

Aww man, I hate to say it but I hated those X-man movies soooooo much.

I haven't started reading X-factor at the moment but I really want to, seeing such good things and love the characters that're used. Think I'll pick up the trades actually.

Sounds intriguing

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 11:23:05 +0000 UTC]

Me too. I only watched them for Aaron Stanford's Pryo (not Australian like he should've been, but Pyro non the less) and Hugh Jackman. I just love seeing other Aussies doing well in a medium I like.

I came across it by change. I'd been out of the comic book loop for ages, but it brought me back in. I'd always like Multiple Man and Syrin and adored Rictor (he reminds me of me in so many ways) and PAD has aleways been a good writer. It also put me onto M and brought Longshot back in.

I hope so, I've only heard good things form people so far.

Good writers too, I'm thankful to say.

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 11:29:08 +0000 UTC]

Then you should be excited for the Thor movie, main actor being an Aussie hey?

I've always thought Shatterstar was cool and Siryn's and M are both sexy as hell. I was never a fan of Longshot (I think it's cos I hated the mullet) but his new look and stuff is really really cool. So yeah, probably gonna get the trades and I'll most likely wanna do some fanart after I've read them. How does Ric remind you of you?
My favourite X-book at the moment is X-force though. Love that title. And my favourite X-character is Cyclops. He's awesome

Oh really? Nice. That's good to hear.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 11:42:53 +0000 UTC]

Heh, yeah. Not a big Thor fan, but excited for Chris. We Aussies tend to really get behind out actors.

Hell yeah. He's not afraid to kill if he has to, he had no understanding of earth ways (alot like me there) and he had SWORDS. I love swords. And red hair, I have a slight (huge)thing for that. I have a whole new apreciation for Terry and love M (another one I can realte to, my circomstances are closer to hers than Rics), attitude and all.

Heh, I've given myself away as a closeted Lonshot mullet fan, but love the new look.

Well, obviously not through gender. We've both had pretty shitty lives (for diffent reasons, but it's all the same in the end, really), having and (not)dealing with depression and emtional things. A volatile personality and temper. I just found out the other day my rages are legondary. I know he's just a comic book character, but for the longest time the things that have happened to me in my life make me read to get away (something he also did in childhood) and I just connected with him.

I hate what they did to Wolfsbane in there, but it does seem like a good book though. The original will always be my favorite though, Liefeld and all.

Yeah, it's good to hear people like what I write (artists never really like their own work, do they?), it makes me feel acomplished.

Swords are cool. And hey, I have a thing for red heads myself. Batgirl, Siryn, Batwoman, Black Widow, Atom Eve... le sigh. Haha.

Shame hey, sorry to hear it's been tough. But I know what you mean. I tent to appreciate books more with characters I can relate to. Growing up I lived in comics vicariously through Nightwing and Cyclops myself, cos of various reasons. So I hear you. Also it's a bit of escapism which I think we all need in our day to day lives to help us cope.

I know what you mean, yer always your own worst critic.

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 12:09:00 +0000 UTC]

I know right? It's a pretty popular fetish, the red head.

Nightwings awesome. Early Cyclops or modern Cyclops? I'm not fond of where he's heading these days.

Exactly, it alows us to 'live' things that we can't in real life.

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 12:18:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah especially among comic geeks. I think I've dated like 3 reds. And have a think for like, some others. Man I'm talking a lot right now and this is our first conversation I think?

Nightwing is awesome, especially now that he's Batman
I've always felt I could associate with Cycke cos of various reasons and I love his skill and power set, but I always felt that no one wrote him properly and couldnt give him a real voice, till Morrison and especially Whedon gave him a voice, and I was finally going Now THAT'S who Cyclops was always meant to be. I don't like where he's heading, but it makes sense and how often in real life does a person not realise where they're heading and then realise they don't like the person they're becoming. It's exactly what's happening with him right now.
And Scott is a much better off with Emma as well. Man she's hawt. hehe.

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 12:37:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's exotic. Comics are like a different, more exotic world, so our real life likes are reflected.

Heh, yeah, it's the first but I like conversations like this. to quote Casablanca, 'Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.' I find that if the first conversation goes well, it's a good setup for future ones.

Really now? I did not know that (I'm not a big DC fan). Whedon is really good at that. I agree with the not having the right voice thing, I just never connected with how he was done. I just wasn't feeling what they said he was ment to be. He's well on his way to becoming the new Magneto and not in a good way.

I like Jean well enough, but yeah, I agree with you about Emma.

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 12:49:59 +0000 UTC]

True true.

Haha, nice one

You're not? Tsk. I should hook you up with some recommendations on what to pick up.

The thing with Cyclops is that he takes on all the resonsibility and has to make the hard choices so no one has to. And Jean, hate Jean, whenever he's with her, he reverts to the awkward kid he was when he first saw her at Xaviers. And we all tend to revert to who we were when we meet people from our past. He does the same, Emma on the other hand is strong and brings out the best in him. And he's a planner and shoulders himself with all the responsibility, now I'm just repeating myself.
He'll crack eventually I'm sure but he'll make it through. That's why he's the leader of the X-men! Booyah!!

It's really true for me though, my really strong internet friendships start like this.

I hear Stormwatch/Authority is good.

No, they don't do well together at all. I like Jean well enough, but even I can see she was just holding him back. You're compleatly right about Emma.

Heh, don't worry about it, I do that all the time.

I can't wait to see when he ends up.

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 13:16:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I don't read those. Batman & Robin is great and so is Green Lantern.

yeah exactly, Jean holds him back. Of course I'm right badabing!

Yeah, though the only X-titles I get are pretty much X-force. I was so disapponted with Utopia Dunno how they could have messed up something that coulda been so much more awesome than it was.
And the fight between Cyclops and Osborn was boring.

Hmm... maybe I shoudl re-draw that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CleanSlate2010 In reply to sean-izaakse [2010-06-23 13:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Batman I like.

You wont regret X-Factor. I didn't read Utopia, so I have no view on that. Peter David tends to stick to his own people when possible. Can't wait until this cross-over's done so we can get back to the X-Factor team.

Re-draw?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sean-izaakse In reply to CleanSlate2010 [2010-06-23 13:52:08 +0000 UTC]

I know cos X-factor does tend to stick to it's own stories which is great and consistent.
Utopia had all the promise of fights you never thought you'd see. Archangel vs Bullseye, Warpath vs Dark Beast, Dani Moonstar vs Ares, Cyclops vs Norman Osborn. But most of it happened off panel, or you just saw panels of guys shooting each other for like a page. So disappointing.

Draw a pinup of the fights.
