(This is a Kisekae 2 Template)Kitsune are an interesting demon. They have a natural shifting ability to change between a fox and humanoid form (with or with out ears and a tail). They are mild tempered and hard to anger. But are also known to be mischievous tricksters, skilled liars and thieves.
Kitsune are not actually a true demon. They do not share the same ancestor and instead evolved from Diminica's foxes. This means their fox form is actually their true form whereas their humanoid form likely evolved to allow them to better communicate with and integrate themselves into demon society as it would have been beneficial for their species to do so.
So while biologically they are not demons legally and socially they are recognised as demons.
Unlike true Diminican demons kitsune are much more limited in terms of the skin colours they have. Their humanoid form can only have a skin colour that real would humans are known to have. Their eyes, hair and fox form fur colour however can still come in any colour. The ears and tail in human form will match that of the fur of their fox form.
Interestingly enough kitsune can draw Reninnar at a rate of one crystal per minute from feelings of frustration. This is just like gremlins. It is unknown why they have the same ability or if there is any connection between them in some way.

Not in the slightest. Kitsune are shapeshifting foxes in the mythology. Think of them I guess as a werehuman fox of sorts. However there is much more to them than that. They are incredibly magically powerful and their power only increases as they grow new tails. Their second tail comes in at the age of 100 and their ninth and final tail comes in at the age of 1,000. One they have nine tails they become omnipresent. Able to hear and see anything anywhere in the world.
Then there are also the problems with two different species reproducing together. Which is something very hard to achieve. Though in folklore the minotaur was born from a queen mating with a bull so its not overly far fetched from this angle I guess. But then where did the anthro foxes come from? There is only one living anthro animal species in reality and that's humans. And in folklore usually anthro animals are werebeasts. Which were human to begin with anyway.
If you are talking about just a kemonomimi fox... Well that isn't truly a kitsune. But I do take the approach of hybrid forms resulting in things like a human with animal parts in my Shattered Reality universe. Although in Shattered Reality the Homo sapiens species is extinct. They're sort of a legacy race.
For these kitsune though I leaned very heavily on their "demon fox" description. They are a lot less powerful though than the original Japanese mythological kitsune.

As far as I'm aware Shiba Inu are just a dog breed. And dragonborn couldn't be further from a dragon kemonomimi. In DnD dragonborn are big hulking draconic people that are just barely even humanoid (half dragons are closer and even they are rather far off) and in Elder Scrolls dragonborns are just people with the soul of a dragon giving them the aptitude for learning dragon language and the ability to steal their souls.
